I am curious on the types of CDL jobs are out in the oil fields other than water, sand, and or crude. I have about 18 months on my CDL with over 3 years working as a yard jockey (started making runs once I got my Class A) and as of late, I've been working as a transit bus driver (actually pays pretty decent). I am looking for a change of pace and to get out of Florida for a while.

You can work for company that actually build the pad, and the lease road, lots of drop deck and low boy hauling. Or work for a fuel company, they haul diesel fuel out to the drilling rigs, and frac sites. Hauling drilling pipe, casings, chemicals, etc., all sorts of stuff to haul.

I'd stay with the stage coach. Bus drivers are in such high demand, they are cancelling routes. If I was a younger man, there's no question I'd drive a stage coach today. A little puke in the aisle pales in comparison to what a truck driver has to put up with today.:puke:

Overall it is not bad, and honestly it is the easiest job I have ever done. I only drive in a small area and really do not have to deal with people that much, now the traffic is a different story but not too difficult. Ever since I got my RV a friend of mine have been pushing me to hit up the oil fields although he is out of ND, but back in town every couple of weeks. Right now I am mainly looking at different ideas, but my biggest goals is to get out of Florida for now (its home, but need to get away)

In addition to what others have said, there are driveway companies that transport frac & cementing equipment from one location to the next, rig movers, and crew bus drivers that shuttle crews between the locations and the man camps.

That's what the company I used to work for was classified as, drive away/tow away. We did 3rd party work for Schlumberger and US-WS. Drove their equipment with our dot signs clipped to the door. That's exactly what we did, had nothing to do with pumping the job but we unloaded the cement into silo's on location and moved all sorts of equipment around.

Put up in a hotel every night and flown around for free on the clock. Between 3 locations we only had about 25 people in the whole company

The fuel haulers taking red and clear diesel to frac sites get paid pretty well. Also, many of the companies that handle diesel are also getting into Compressed Natural Gas. From what I hear, the CNG haulers are purely drop & hook.

Yep there's a company around me that runs CNG up to New England/upstate NY all drop and hook day cabs. About the easiest hazmat job out there
