Overweight, loaded with an extra 8000lbs, what would you do?

Hi All. Sorry, I was running on fumes when I typed the scenario late last night. I see it reads a little difficult to understand. I’m 12000pbs over the BOL weight and 8000 lbs over max gross weight. I’m at the closest cat scale to the shipper (who is a tiny metal fabrication yard and won’t take any of it back) about 22 miles down the hwy. Cat scale has parking, so I’m in a good spot to be in a bad scenario. Shipper flew his plane from the loading spot back to his place in Idaho (from northwest Washington where we loaded) and is telling me to “drive it out to me, I’ll pay any blown tires and tickets!”(Not happening). Broker says “bring it back to the shipper” (can’t, the guy that owns the freight was just storing it at the small yard I picked it up from). It’s 10 full storage containers, new, in walls to put together. It got stacked so that there are forklift holes at the two base layers and the stacks are strapped together tight. What might be a creative solution to start working on this? Tow company with a large forklift to come out and set one bundle in the back corner of the yard that I’m at and do two trips? My brain is zapped from the day and night, any ideas would be much appreciated

88k still is nothing, dodge/dust any scales and get the load off, and move on with it. Especially if he’s offering to pay for fines

invest in a set of suspension scales next time

So you're 8000lbs and not 800lbs overweight? That would definitely change my opinion under the right circumstances.

How far ya gotta go with it? I'd probably still run it after agreeing on proper compensation

i appreciate the idea, but I’ve got a twisting two lane, steep mountain pass to climb in a single lane to start the trip.
The weight probably wouldn’t be a big issue. The fact that I know I’m overweight would be a jail sentence if anything happened with the truck, trailer or freight that hurt someone. So I’m not running it.

I was put oos in Missouri with 4k over gross..800 doesn’t sound like much but I’m sure it is Officer discretion in most cases.

I’m sure it is, but they can put you oos for any number of things on top of it, I’m not familiar with MOs policies though. I know PA won’t even give you a second look on portables until you are over 83k

No reason to contemplate the what if’s. 80000 or 80800 isn’t gonna make a #### difference if you let it get away from and someone gets hurt. Or if they run into you and they are hurt. It’s gonna be your hiney regardless

If hopefully your broker is a reasonable person work out with him to find a place to get off loaded like a cross dock or something nearby and to bill his customer.

Where are you and where are you going? It’s the weekend so maybe can help you find a route out there without worrying about scales. I ran the NW at 105k gross for about 10 years.
