Looking for companies that do the OTR training as a solo truck not just run you as a team. I'm not a trusting person so sleeping while someone I don't know is driving is a none starter for me. I've found CFI has been talked about doing just that but the cfi website is down right now so I can't verify.

It seems just about every company wants new drivers to go through the same amount of OTR training whether they go through company training or pay for schooling so paying outa pocket up front for schooling seems pointless. Can always just pay the company after if things don't work out.

Where is your location? We can give you several choices to research.
Most companies with in-house cdl training don't allow team driving for a trainer & trainee.

Schneider. Trainers are always in the passenger seat while the trainee is driving. If you come with a CDL you’re on a trainers truck for 1 week. If you get your CDL through Schneider it’s 2 weeks.

In Ohio but travel isn't a problem. Honestly rather be someplace warmer. That is a big reason for wanting to make the jump to class A. I already have a B but tired of doing driveaway (delivering new bobtail trucks) and would rather have a truck of my own vs driving something different every day and having to get hotel rooms or sleep in my pickup.

    Dutch Maid Logistics
    Willard, Ohio

    Here's a copy/paste from an older thread:
"Dutch Maid Logistics has for a long time helped employees with its parent company Wiers Farms obtain their CDL A. They did so without actually operating a school. With the new requirement set to take effect in February that will require attending a recognized school of CDL training in order to obtain a class A CDL, Dutch Maid Logistics is going to be forming a school. This is a good company, located in Willard, OH. They hire from all over, but mostly out of Ohio and neighboring states, as well as the east coast.

This is true, just wanted to add that at Schneider's Indianapolis OC they're on a pilot program where student are with a trainer for only 1 week. Still trained as solo driving though, no teaming. If OP is in Ohio and goes with Schneider, they'll likely be sent to Indianapolis. Another nice plus is Schneider's contract is only for 9 months and only $2080 for leaving prior to then; pretty short and cheap compared to other companys' training programs.

Mast is one of the first companies I looked at, they are close by. A quote from the website that screams team "Earn $.22 cents per mile for all miles both you and your trainer drive". I did send them a message asking. Calling on a Saturday seemed pointless. Plus right now I'm just shopping. Too #### cold in ohio to be standing around pointing at truck parts saying "not broken, bend, missing, or missing hardware" for a week or whatever dumb #### we have to say for pretrip nowadays.
