Truck prices one year later. First was the rate crash and now the truck price crash is under way.

One year ago half million mile Freightshakers $130,000+

Was a pretty long thread about it.
Half million mile Freightshakers for $130,000

Now the same type of trucks are listed for HALF that amount. Here are a couple examples.

    Kenworth too

Used truck prices are now crashing harder than rates.

Just think, you could have sold your truck a year ago, chilled on the money. Then now picked up a truck for a fraction of what you could have sold for a little while back.

Still pretty high, almost double what I paid for my 2016 t680 in late 2019 mileage wise (~240k miles, $70k)

Glad to see it. Still waiting for the truck dealers to get this memo on new truck prices though.

    >500 000 milers in the range of $50 - 60k could make sense, as long as the new truck prices are hovering over $200 000.
However, the most important to remember is that you buy a fatigued and injury prone horse, so another $50k must be allocated to take care of undesirable, yet inevitable issues that will manifest themselves in the next 100 000 - 200 000 miles. After that a maintenance cost of $15 - $20k a year becomes a norm on a used truck like that.
3 years ago, I remember 4 year old pro stars under 400 000 miles specd nicely with ISX 500HP and 13 manual Eaton Fuller offered by Arrow Truck Sales for less than $40k.

Well it doesn't take a scientist to see people just aren't buying this stuff today, and for heavens sake, why would anyone buy ANYTHING like this today. Too bad that analogy won't work on groceries.
If I may interject a society note, we are truly in a catastrophic spiral we won't get out of. My weekly Walmart visit is always a surprise, but a stinkin' bag of pretzel sticks, was $7.84! 6 rolls of axxwipe, the CHEAP brand, was also $8 bucks. Who is going to buy a stinkin' bag of pretzels for $8BUCKS? Okay, axxwipe, they can charge what they want with newspapers being extinct now. So that company, to make up for lack of sales, has to increase prices to the fools who actually buy it to stay in business. That mindset worked for while in used trucks, as new ones hit half a mil, but with all that's going on, obviously, supply has outpaced demand, and you'd be better off selling motorhomes to the already rich.
I say, in my 68 years, I never thought it would be like this, and the bottom has literally GOT to fall out, and will make 1929 look like a picnic.

I lived through the 1970s when we had a stagnant economy and inflation, called Stagflation. Mortgages interest rates were 8-12% and fuel prices tripled or quadrupled in a couple of weeks. We can get out of this societal mess, but some people are going to have to give up on their Santa Clause fantasy. So, maybe we are doomed. Even Germany and Japan recovered from WWII.

I’d buy one of those KWs if I needed a Truck. Wouldn’t touch the Freightliners. They depreciate too fast. Too expensive on maintenance to keep forever.

Just getting in before the next 100 pages.

But yeah low mileage trucks still are selling but 500k and over seem to be dying on the vine.

too bad we didn't learn from doing that instead of selling so much to China as the preferred business model.
