Do you guys use LegalShield/ TVC/ Pro-Driver ?? $$$ FOR ADVICE!!

I don't have any of the prepaid lawyer services but I'd advise you to be direct with your questions. This is a great forum and I'm sure you'll get plenty of opinions.

 

99% of citations are not gotten simply by doing a pre trip and not speeding. If you still get a citation, then you can find a local lawyer to handle it for you. And that's all Legal Shield and the like are. A referral and payment company that finds likely the exact same person you will find with a Google search.

 

I used to get lots of speeding tickets in my younger years. So, I subscribed to one of such services offered at a TA hallway somewhere. I forgot their name but they were located in Tacoma, WA and the dues were $36 per month or so it was 2002.
I used them 3 times in the following 2 years. Twice they were successful, one time not at all. Basically, they find you a lawyer, with supposedly discounted retainer, close to a court where your ticket was issued.

At some point, I decided to ditch them and if ever gotten any tickets, I did what they had been doing, calling traffic court lawyers in the area. It was just as effective.
Finally, I slowed down and stopped getting tickets whatsoever. The last traffic violation I received was in Utah in 2011. It was for not blinking turn signal before changing lane to pass a Swift truck for more than 3 seconds... I hired a lawyer but he wasn't successful in amending the ticket, he just bought me some time.

From retrospect, I don't think that those 'find you a traffic court lawyer' services are worth the money. You still have to pay their lawyers, who you can find yourself. They may say that the lawyers in their network are the best but what else can they say to get your money?

 

I always got a kick out of their sales pitch basicly saying everyone else is on it, and the dot only gives a hard time to drivers who aren't on it. Yeah, okay, if it is true you somehow have the best lawyers fighting truck drivers tickets for 30 a month or whatever they sure aren't going to be the top shot lawyers around.

Honestly I've never had to fight a ticket. I earned every one I've ever gotten. It is way easier to just play by the rules as best you can.

I think that with age comes the benefit of not getting tickets.
I am not too sure how it works but there must be something about it.
Maybe going slower and generally less reckless is something you aquire as you enter your middle age.

Plus night blindness sets in, so you only drive slow and daylight hours.

I started using 1+ reading glasses only 1 year ago...and today I feel like I need to wear them by a shoe lace around my neck because reading without them is a pain and I misplace them a lot.
