I recently passed my 10,000th post and 20,000 thanks. Been a rough ride sometimes, logging out at times in disgust as to where trucking has gone, but even retired, I still look at every truck that goes by, and have the back brace to remind me everyday of my job. Do I miss it? Of course, I wouldn't be here if I didn't, even though, trucking today is a mere shred of what I was used to. Several indicators prove to me, what rough times lay ahead and am truly, "Happily Retired".
I do want to say, however, a lot of mishaps come through here, seemingly indicating, we have the biggest screwups on the rock driving our trucks, and it just isn't so. I'll defend to the bitter end, we have the best drivers, and the fact our truck drivers are able to supply this ungrateful country with the goods needed to survive, is a testament to their dedication, and are just as responsible for our countrys well being as LEOs, and a tip of the hat to those still doing it. AMEN!:thumbup::thumbup:

New b here. That's a lot of keystrokes.

Anyhow, congrats on the retirement and thanks for continued posting.

The experienced stories and advice is why I read this site.

Congratulations. Thanks for your contributions. If I could add my Usenet numbers to my TTR numbers I might get another FBI visit.

Thanks, pal, I've seen a lot of changes, just like the guys I learned from did. I'd say the thing I missed the most was the camaraderie among drivers. The cell phone changed EVERYTHING. I thought that was lost forever until I found this site. I swear, coming from a time when backhauls were posted on a black board in a back room of a truckstop, to this, well, I just hope folks realize what they have here. Information that took us years, is available at the push of a button now. I realize , we can't drive old Peterbilts and run around the scales anymore, and just as well. It's all business now, but I had a lot of fun being an "outlaw" with my outlaw buddies. We didn't kill anyone, broke every rule that would bend, and was an exciting job I don't think can be replicated today. Good luck to all in the future, I think you're going to need it. I'm just going to sit back on this bank of sand and watch the river flow,,:hello2:

I don't think the experience of walking with the NM scalemaster out back and slipping a 20 exists anymore , lol, and it was always $20

Remember when a new bird dog was the big talk, now it’s about a goofy phone that doesn’t take dimes or quarters….
