How come I don’t have much heat on my truck? I have winter front on! And belly tarp when it’s -30 windows go frosty and need to use my Amex card to scrap the window from the inside!! It’s a Westernstar and when I put it in full defrost. There is still decent air flow coming out of the face vents…

It’s possible the heater core is plugged. Check if the truck has water valves on one, or both of the heater hoses, make sure they are fully open.

    Diesel Dave Thanks this.

Difference in temperature is like 8 degrees from in to out of the core! But why can’t I get heat to defrost also? It stays on vent

I had a 2013 that also sucked in the winter.
Eventually I found that the cab heat control cable was mounted too far up the lever on the valve before the heater core. When it was dialed as fully open, the core of the valve only had about an 1/8” of an opening.
I repositioned the cable lower down on the arm of the valve , this gave the control dial in the cab the ability to rotate the valve further, so it fully opened.
I was nice an toasty after that.

Well I found a space that there’s like 3Ts in the coolant lines. So that could be part of the issue.

Just to clarify, is hot air coming out of the dash and floor vents? But not coming out of the defroster vents?

Yeah when it’s on defrost it’s only coming out of the vents. Don’t get hardly any air out of defrost! I flip it back and fourth to defrost and vent. Airflow doesn’t seem to change. I see the lever switch move in behind that cluster move when I go from defrost to vent then I see a airline but no air leaking

May be the actuator for the blend door, it is not opening all the way.
