Without going into too much detail, I was ticketed last year in Minnesota. I reside in a different state. MN offered me a settlement, where if I paid the fine and pleaded guilty, I would be given a 6 month stay of adjudication. I have a copy of the original signed settlement offer that MN sent me before I returned it. The 6 months were up earlier this month. The only stipulation was that I couldn't have anymore traffic offenses in that time period, which I haven't. I haven't received any further communication from Minnesota on this, as in no letter telling me I have successfully met the terms of the agreement.

I checked my state MVR after the 6 month period was up, and it shows the date of the ticket and then the day the adjudication started as the day I was found guilty. I called my local state DOT and explained the situation. I was told that the only way this will come off my record is if they receive a letter from the appropriate people in Minnesota telling them to remove it. Who should I contact in Minnesota to get this off my record and confirm the stay of adjudication is over?

Honestly - I'd contact a lawyer, it sounds messy. I'd start with a letter to the clerk at the county courthouse in MN where you paid the fine (assuming you did).

Yeah, I paid the fine. I am sure my wife could dig up proof of that if it was necessary. I kinda figured I might have to get a lawyer involved. Maybe I will try calling the county clerk just to see what he or she says.

Well, it gets worse. I checked my case at Minnesota Courts online. The day they received my signed agreement and check for the fine, they found me guilty in absentia and put the money towards the court costs and fine. I don't know if this was a mistake or bait and switch. I definitely will be calling a lawyer.
