Drill 1 hole, bad?

Not gonna hurt a thing.

 

That rust is only on the surface. You will discover real quick just how solid that frame still is once you try to get a bit to go through it.

 

Will not hurt anything. But word of advise, do not drill above or below current bolts going towards flange. That's were it's heat treated, you will have a really hard time.

Heat treat is in flanges, not center of web.

 

If you have one or if there’s a tool rental place close that has one…..using a mag drill will make it a lot easier on yourself.

 

You can, 4 holes you can do with a cordless drill. Just know if your big bit, is high speed, or low speed. You really wanna zip holes buy a a fluted reamer bit. Drill a pilot hole, and a good 1/2 cordless will walk right thru it. If your moving axles or changing mounts, the mag drill is your best friend.

 

The only holes I’ve drilled were for mounting a lift axle. And renting a mag drill for a day was the choice I made. Lol

 

I once did frame inserts and swapped from reyco, to KW 8 bag. Shop boss was kinda a prick. Company owner seen this and told us to stop. He would get a mag drill and we can resume when it shows up.

This is just for a picture. I have no idea the specific brand quality. This will get it done. Now put this in a mag drill and it's like slicing butter.

 

Magnetic drill and use an annular cutter not a drill bit.
