We graduated yesterday from our Community College truck driving school and had an interview with a company today. We had a question/answer session with them today and they had us do a road test that included had us do a pre trip, load a trailer, drive on highway and country roads then park the trailer.

after the road test we were offered a job :D

We will train locally for a month with separate trainers (home nighty). Then then will start to dispatch us as a team.

Why did we chose Amhof Trucking over Schneider? First it was the references from my relative who has driven the last 15 years of his 30 yr trucking career with them. He swears by this small company (less than 100 trucks) and he isn’t someone who pulls his punches. After a phone discussion and sit down talk with them we really liked that they realize we are new drivers and have a plan for where we will run as new drivers and how they see our lanes progressing as we gain experience.

We start after we return from a week in Florida

I think it's always better to follow specific recommendation from someone that worked at the company versus a more general recommendation form strangers you don't know. Companies can change over time, but if things go well ata a small company your life can be pretty good. I think you and your wife are getting the best possible start and will likely do very well. Don't give up during the training portion, that's usually the hardest period because you have so little control over your day and everything is so new. Once you get into your own truck it gets easier.

You two did well. It wasn't just luck.

The last time my wife and I were traveling on the water was on a small ferry on ChauHu Lake going to a Buddhist temple. We departed from the temple in the picture and went to the one on the island in the background. Can barely see the temple in that photo. Had to hike from the landing to the top of the island where the temple is located.

    Well on your way.
Good luck and remember, some times it's better to say nothing at all.
And ya'll help each other to back up.
If they think you're rookies, it's because you are. But 12 years later, I'm still never afraid to ask for help.
