Never dump paint near your home. Take it a few blocks away and dump it in a dumpster.

Opus, JoeyJunk, mjd4277 and 1 other person Thank this. -
here we have to pay (by law) a recovery fee for any cans of paint (except spray cans)
35¢ for quart cans, and 75¢ for gallons..
we then take those cans to a store that accepts them, and leave them there, where they then get taken to a company that reclaims the left over paints, and makes that into new(er) paints...
i do not know the process, how that's done, but i always makes sure i get the very last drop of paint...but also too, that fee we pay, you drop off the empty cans as well... -
Have you considered setting a gallon can of paint on a highway on a pitch black night?

Home Depot sells a packet of stuff that supposedly solidifies paint. Or use cat litter. We have local chemical collection events that accept all chemicals. It costs money but at least you know it’s being disposed of properly. And cheaper than getting caught dumping paint in regular trash.
I worked at a Lumber Yard in high school. Someone tossed a cracked 5 gallon pail of driveway sealer. The company had to pay for the cleanup of the garbage truck as it was a top loader.mjd4277 Thanks this. -
