nothing forced unless you go to a dark terminal to kick freight.

we didnt change our hiring standards. been short 1 or 2 linehaul guys for 4 years. our location can be easily covered so....and this is to include mechanics. been without one mech for 3 years now?

so what location? and are you sure a linehaul spot was open there? made sure you went through all the declarations on the app? there was something like 10 pages or so.

you can always call to speak with that terminal to see if it went through.

This 2020-2021 they were posting P&D and linehaul openings for a year straight at a location in michigan. Hiring both postions at top pay, idk about linehaul but talking to P&D drivers they have about 75. Nearest terminal is 1.5 hours away

Hell no. How big is your terminal ? Freight in LTL is so slow right now, i wouldnt dare switch over. We got guys that only drive 2 or 3 times a month. I would go fuel hauler before i switch LTL bottom senority right now

Kinda depends on where you are. But, running the casual board can be brutal.

    am in Columbus.
so we dont have extra board. a new guy would get whats leftover as far as bid goes. we do have offerings of a night off of one or more drivers, that starts on the volunteer sign up sheet then it goes by seniority. Doesnt often make it past number 10 of 18 at my barn. typically one of the top three take it. you have a bid, period. none of this calling in garbage.

and if freight is slow, we're getting higher paid freight because my barns daily revenue is growing.... and weekend work for a couple guys that sign up often enough.

How do they handle vacations and personal days if everyone has a bid and there's no extra drivers?
