So company has me get my physical done again, been having back issues etc and have missed work cause of it. Passed physical but honestly seems like they only care if your breathing anymore.
Have had AFib in the past and labeled with cardiomyopathy which is congestive heart failure basically. I know my health boils down to my weight and I know I give lots of excuses for not losing it. Would really like to get away from the truck but it's all I know, not sure how to go about finding better work

Suck it up and start taking care of yourself. If you're making excuses for not taking care of yourself. You will make excuses about getting away from driving.

Let your CDL expire... Then you will have motivation to change lines of work.

Go get a full physical. Not a Docs in the Box "if you can focus your eyes and have a measurable body temp" physical, I mean a real physical. The whole deal, EKG, blood work, stress test, kinesthesia tests for balance and coordination... everything that a real physical should be.
The results will probably scare the crap out of you. That's good.
Or, just keep slobbing along the way you are. You'll get older and fatter and sicker and probably die in extreme discomfort well before your time. Your choice entirely.

Trucking is easy compared to the working world brother.
These large companies have your day all planned out for you, minute by minute. You wont make it in your condition.
Your condition is real don't let anyone shame you into giving up. It took you a lifetime probably sitting in a truck and living a sedentary lifestyle to get where you are. You cant reverse that overnight and need to be realistic about your future.

Weight is certainly a HUGE part of that. Do whatever you must. Don't give up.

I've seen a few excuses and no motivation other than a pity party. Get over it and get on with it.

Quit driving for a few months or a year. Swallow your pride and work at Wal-Mart or somewhere. Hit the gym with a personal trainer in the evenings. Eat a good diet. And learn to live healthy. Then if trucking is what you want, go back to it.

Or you can come here and have a pity party, looking for sympathy, which I have zero for you. It's nothing personal, but this touches a nerve for me.

    The choice is yours.

You can lose weight no exercise needed or going hungry or eating salads. If you want to get out of trucking, what about looking for yard jockey driving job or driving 5 days a week or home daily. Most people will lose weight just from stop eating sugar and carbohydrates and eating real food. No salads required.

Okay, hold on REO, this person is reaching out to us, they don't need your crabby advice. I'm on your side, trips, and these "doctors" are heck bent on keeping their swanky lifestyles, and will do what it takes to keep it. Personally, I told the trucking industry to cram it with walnuts, and I wasn't going to pad these healthcare folks' pockets. They know us old folks are their rags to riches. Kind of ironic how they save lives, only to devastate their lives later. Got to operate before they die. Sounds like job security to me. I can say, many times, ALLEGED illnesses are caught during the DOT exam, but how do you really know? They go for maximum results, even though, it may sound a lot worse than it really is. Where would they be if they said, "looks good",,Like taking in an old truck to a repair shop,,"Oh, that framistan bearing about shot", not me, if I can help it. As much as healthcare may not like it, I've found, there is merit to NOT knowing. I've personally known people that were fine for years with "those lumps", and didn't last 6 months once they found out. It's also clear, folks that advocate getting "this and that" done, obviously have insurance to cover said expenses. My brother, had a colonoscopy, 1st one, "on the house", the 2nd one, if needed, and you know they will, cost him over $4,000! And on top of that, we have to pay Medicare premiums to boot, that don't cover a lot. The healthcare community can kiss my axx, until I need them, of course. Even then, I'm going to run up a catastrophic bill and die.
Now, don't say dying is better. In my religion, LIFE is better, and there are no "pearly gates", you live your heaven and hexx on earth. Cheer up, pal, sun coming up, another cup of Joe, screw this industry, and do something you like, like retire for good. I know, bills, but if you make some adjustments, it's not so bad. I was like you, and "waiting for my day" too, but I moved to the Rocky Mountains, and all their glory, and the best part? The computer, and the world, has an on/off switch for me now. You paid your dues in life, don't spend your last days in a stinkin' truck. Hang in there pal, retirement is awesome, don't cheat yourself out of that, eh?
