Got the run down on the new pay package for the flatbed ICs today. Basically it's a flat 70% of the gross revenue for the load, so no paid empty miles obviously. It's also 100% pass thru of the fuel surcharge and any accessorial pays. So whatever every the shipper pays for tarping, jobsite deliveries, extra stops, etc... The IC gets in addition to the 70%. If the FSC is higher/lower than what Roehl is giving it doesn't matter, what the shipper pays is what you get. You can also change your pay package twice a year, June 1st and January 1st. If this is done right it could be a nice program. Additionally, they're going to begin offering three loads for the driver to choose from rather than just dispatch a load. Also, Roehl is looking to bring on at least 50 more flatbed ICs.

    Baack Thanks this.

Does the load show the total paid amount before you accept it. I am really curios on how that works.

Theoretically... yes. The preplans are SUPPOSED to show the gross revenue and the FSC being paid on the load. That being said, the system is all screwed up right now and not functioning properly. Seems like they didn't have all the bugs worked out before offering this. Simply put... It's a cluster.

    Venture,
Hows it going? You seem to have worked out the issues and are doing well. I really am enjoying my decision to make the switch.I think you and I share the same philosophy of keeping our cost as low as possible. How did the tax thing work for you? SInce I had my own truck I wasn't required to use ATBS. I found a trucker only tax company if Dallas and they were very good. I have been running good miles pretty much from day one. I really enjoy being able to go home when I want and dictating how long I will stay at home. With that comes the understanding that I make nothing at home and can make quite good money behind the wheel. Keep up the good work and keep a eye out for the black International 9400. I have found that since becoming a owner operator I don't get by the terminals nearly as much as I did as a company driver.

This statement simply offends me. As if the reason there are so few O/Os at Roehl is because they haven't figured out that the key to business is to make as much money as possible!

Dude are you serious ? If that offended you for the reason you state all I got to say is WTF. Venture and me both have similar views on how we should operate as O/O's. For your info there are over 200 O/O's with Roehl and all the ones I interact with think this way also. So claiming that I am in some way calling out all the O/O's at Roehl is stupid. You are one that seemed to have a better head on his shoulders that many that post here but now I really don't know.

At 70% I hope they give out free vasoline or KY jelly!:biggrin_2555: You should be getting no less than 75% and thats even low. As for the 3 loads offered...:biggrin_2559:. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess your lease purchase drivers. If thats the case, your certainly not any kind of O/O. All you are is a company driver who thinks you own the truck!

Sorry not trying to be rude just honest.

More like a company driver who doesn't get paid. Somebody posted the mileage rate and I forget but I think it was 86cpm and a fuel surcharge.

It's a good deal, though. So good 200 people are doing it. That I maybe see one fueling in Gary every couple of months and have only ever talked to two makes a whole lot of sense when you figure 200 would be about a sixth of the whole company.

I've never claimed to be an O/O, and have time after time stated I'm an L/O with no delusion that I "own my truck". Thanks for the drive-by post, but feel free to run your own truck. Not trying to be rude, just honest.
