Thought i should add new mic and still no workie. Is it the radio or is it the antenna and coax. Antenna is a 5Ft firestick with some cheap radio shack coax.

possibly the finals have burned up? How was the SWRs when he had it also when you set it up in your vehicle? If you or him have talked on it with a high SWR it is most likely one of you have burned the finals. But the good thing is that you can get them replaced with a Mosfet and get a little more power from it.

Just a thought, are you sure the switch is set to "RF" if its not the meter would not move. Other than that with a good known mike, it would have to be the radio, whether the SWR is correct or not
