Me and my buddy are thinking about doing team together. Never really done team before but I'm open to it since it's someone I trust and I wanted to find out what might be our best option. We looked into Prime Inc. a bit already and it seems like a pretty darn good option, but I wanna see what else is out there. I have 5 years OTR and he has about 8 months OTR and more than a year local.

Edit: Looking to be company drivers in dry van or reefer.

Have a look at UPS and R&L Carriers. Both are going to be at the upper end of pay potential.

Don’t do Prime. YouTube is FULL of Prime lovers. They always do well for a few years and then move on. And I use the term “well” loosely.

Driver posted yesterday he and his buddy went to R&L Carriers and are each making around $2500 a week.
I've been looking for the thread and will let you know if I find it. It was posted yesterday.

I've noticed that...apparently due to the recent trend in the freight market...a lot of companies now are pushing team driving harder that weren't pushing it as much before.

With that said -- for the best answer to your question -- it might be time to do a bit of soul searching. Answer these questions:

    • What CDL endorsements do you both have (if any)?
    • How long are you willing to stay out? Do you want to pretty much run the exact same route, and be home every weekend? Or are you willing to "mix it up"...see different places/lanes....and stay out longer? Are you willing/able to run all 48 lower states?
    • What type(s) of freight are you willing/able to pull? Hazmat? Tanker? Both? Flatbed? Something else?
    • Where do you guys live (city/state)?
    • What are your minimum income goals?
    • Are both of you comfortable driving for long periods of time at night?
    • Are both of you comfortable with the idea of sleeping while in a moving truck?
    • How hard are you willing to run? Are you looking for something that is closer to 6,000 miles per week? Or would you both rather run something that is closer to 4,000 miles per week?
The answers to the above will point you to the better choices for a carrier and for the right freight.

Team driving is no picnic. Did it for a year at my first driving gig , Covenant.
    Best of Luck -

Did it for a few months at Schneider. Hated it.

A lot of this just comes with team driving. I am fully aware of what is involved with team driving. When I said I've never done team driving, I didn't consider when I was in training. Like a lot of us out here, I had to do team driving when I first started with my trainer. I didn't have a problem with that other than the fact that I just wanted to get the heck past my training and get into my own truck.

Edit to add: I think we're looking into dry van or reefer. Team tanker sounds like a bad idea.. I don't know about sleeping in a truck that may or may not violently surge at random times... And I don't really like flatbed.
