I inherited all of Dad's tools when he died. He was an aircraft mechanic and crop duster for over sixty years.
If I need to adjust the timing on a Wright Whirlwind engine or fine tune the rigging on a Stearman I'm good to go.

I was looking at truck pictures on the Truck Pix thread just bouncing around and something came to mind. Now my comments are not to stir up anyone, but just observations I remember as I took a short trip down memory lane. These are not a 100% fit but generalizations. Reefer boys were the cleanest and best dressed. Open deck boys were the dirtiest (I plead guilty here). Van boys were the sloppiest and dam dirty. Livestock boys had their shirttails hanging out and always looked like they needed a three day nap even if they just woke up. Hopper boys looked like they either pulled a reefer or they pulled a van. No in between, either or.

I am no mechanic and dont do it everyday so i may be talking out of my ### here.. But there is such good stuff on amazon and other off brands id have a hard time buying anything name brand unless it was something I used everyday and the off brands didnt hokd up.. The only snapon stuff i have is tools thats been passed down from my grandpa to my dad and now to me

There's nothing wrong with the "cheap" stuff. Most brands are lifetime warranty now too.
I'd say over half of my tools are considered "cheap" IE not Snap On, Mac, Matco etc. Been using them daily since 2008 and they're still getting the job done. My $150 wrench set (1-3/8" to 2") has made me just as much money as the $1500 Snap On set covering the same sizes. I've abused those wrenches pretty good and they're going on year 14 now lol. -
I used to think having shop tools, and road tools was bad. Then need some for home. Currently have tool boxes in 2 garages, service truck full, plus tools in semi. Still buying stuff. Just bought series 60 front and rear seal installer. Things just keep piling up. My daughter better like cars, trucks,or tools. Or marry someone that does. She will acquire a collection one day.

I keep the basic stuff at home. If I need anything else I just bring it home with me. I'm not buying 2 sets of pullers, bearing splitters, presses, large impacts etc.
