Cb receives but cant talk out

I think we figured out his finals are burnt.. I dont think he had his ant isolated from the mount.. but have to agree on the 102.

 

Well it looks like ao2005 did have the ant isolated ..but still sounds like finals are burnt.. I think he said meter started working again?

 

Sounds like you have got an antenna problem. You need to match the antenna to the radio. By this I mean you need a good coax, to make sure your connection to the antenna is good. You need to raise, lower or cut the antenna(calibrate) so that it matches the signal that the radio is sending out electronically. Remember that your vehicle is an extension of your antenna, so you need to make sure you place that stick in the highest and center-most place on your vehicle, taking into consideration all the obtacles such as underpasses and car/truck washes that you will have to go through. Go to the "Firestick antenna" web site or try watching a google or youtube video on antenna calibration. Good luck.

 

As far as I know, grounding means that your antenna is connected to vehicle or ground so that radio waves disperse efficiently from the antenna base and/or wip. I know this is achieved by having the antenna connected to the ground or to the metal part of the vehicle by using a piece of wire (usually number 12 ground), unless the base of the antenna is already connected to a metal part of your vehicle.

 

Your best bet would be to check the SWR with an external meter or for a general idea use the built in meter on the Cobra.Talk-back is not going to tell you if your radio and antenna are working properly.Talk-back is just a sample of your voice before it is transmitted through the antenna.
