I haul cars my ground clearance is 4-6 inches on flat ground. Whoever said 8 should be illegal is a #######. Different trucks do diferent jobs. By the way very few things shpuld be illegal. Murder, rape, etc. We have to many #### laws already.

Had a Cascadia come into our yard today. Our yard is pretty flat, couple of large diameter but shallow holes, maybe 3 or 4 inches deep at most. I could see several spots where the skirts hit the dirt. Just silly to spec a truck with 3" of clearance for deck work.

Buying the correct truck set up for the intended work will always be the most financially feasable option.

Freight over the road companies spec their trucks for just that and OP needs to do the same as they shop.

I've watched a bunch of operators upgrading horses to find they can't re-use their former PTO power setups for pumps and other accessories because they bought road trucks with PTO options deleted from the transmissions, not to menion the fairing, and other goodies they remove and place in the pile of stuff kept 'just in case'.

I will age myself, just out of high school in 1972 an my uncle got me into one of his companies shops doing utility work.

That year they bought 472 new R modles and the line sheet showed all the items delted and stuff like 'light line utility floor'.

List price was around $27,500.00 or so each [really dating myself!] and my uncle, area maintenace manager and was on the corporate team negotiating this year's buy and trades said they did good that year got them for $17,500 each.

    Volume gets what they want.
