Your truck have the Espar bunk heater as well as the Carrier unit heat? If you have an Espar, it needs to be fired up once every month all year long just to keep it cleaned out.

    IH9300SBA and bzinger Thank this.

The carrier one doesn't really have to be run until winter it's basically a heat pump

    IH9300SBA Thanks this.

Brrrrr. I tried just using the Carrier unit for heat on my truck last winter, it couldn't keep up. I am thankful I have both.

that's why I asked...because the Espar is fuel fired, it needs to cycle occasionally...electric heat just gives you that burning dust smell the first time you use it each season.

I still want to see if it even works with as many issues I’ve had with the A/C side of stuff

We’ll probably have to fire up the furnace tonight. The thing hasn’t run since April so I’m expecting it to smell quite bad.

Basically uses the same unit as the a/c, just reverses where it discharges the hot air, unless you use it on high, then it turns on auxillary heat strips.

    MidWest_MacDaddy and rokue Thank this.

Swapped loads in Checotah at 5 am this morning. Dropped the other guys load in Edgerton and swung by the Kansas City yard to grab a trailer headed to Lancaster for Sunday. Just pulled into town 5 minutes ago. Have to hustle over to the bank to get my new debit card before they close.

M22 rockcrusher, Oxbow and BigR Thank this.
