If the weather is bad enough to get you to divert from 395, those storms are usually big enough to make Donner a total cluster as well. That being the case, going via I84 is close enough to the same out-of-route miles as I80 over Donner, without dealing with 1) really crappy weather on Donner, the time involved in climbing the pass, and 3) California. -
Still, never said I'd fire HER, I'd fire HIM. -

However the FM made this incident the breaking point for which he reccommended her be let go, terminated, lease canceled (whatever you want to call it). This was wrong.
The FM was clearly frustrated at a driver that had taken over 6 days to get from PA to Reno (in a team driving situation), used every excuse in the book to shutdown, and already had a reputation as being a very unproductive driver. He was still wrong.
Probably should have waited a couple weeks, and he already had quite a bit of a case to let her go. Im sure in those following weeks she would have provided more evidence to warrant her being let go.
There is a climb to Donner Pass from Reno, however compared to the Western side, the eastern side is much shorter. -

It's about forty miles shorter going over Donner vs. going over Cabbage and through Portland. However, going through Bend, OR cuts almost 150 off the route over Donner. What I see is a "driver" who is not interested in really working, made a team load take much longer than was necessary, routed herself poorly because she is afraid of US and State highways and didn't request a t-call at any point along the way. She was only averaging 1699 mi/wk. I can do that in three days. That's an average covering September, October, November and December. 16 weeks. In fact, I started w/Prime at roughly the same time she did by looking at the dates and was running by *** off...making some good money, too during that whole time. WTF???
I also see a FM who was a dummy by sending those msgs over the QC. He was trying to deal with a PITA driver, just judging by the history I see in the decision. He did a poor job. I can't say too much about this particular FM because....well, just because... but suffice it to say I'm glad he wasn't mine.
Something else to consider: Seven companies before hiring on with Prime in less than ten years? Can anyone else see the red flag there? -
I guess I'll repeat the question since there was no answer ... If she was so "bad" a driver and only for four months - why was she made a trainer? ...
People can argue the details till they are blue in the face - but she was still a trainer.
I'm happy the judge saw right thru all the usual BS and sent this message. -
The judge followed the law because the FM screwed-up. IMO, the driver was still a lazy PITA... and deserved to be canned.
outerspacehillbilly and Injun Thank this.
