SD122. 20K front end. No air ride.
We have 8 that make the popping noise.
Freightliner added a shim between the spring eye and the inside of the spring shackle.
That stopped it for 25,000 miles.
Now it only pops occasionally.Dave_in_AZ and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
I just want to know the science behind it. LolDave_in_AZ and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
There's a reason they're called Freightshaker Crapcadia.

I drove a 2018 briefly that did that. Everything looked tight on the front end and it drove straight so I really didn't care. I didn't own a bolt in it lol.

This is one of those rare issues that I have ran into many times at my shop since Cascadia was introduced and never was able to pinpoint cause. Short of replacing every front end suspension part (at the same time) Trying different parts on different trucks was still not successful. Gave up on this one....

I replaced my leaf spring bushings and that solved my popping problems.

I experienced this popping/knocking noise in the front end in wet conditions. My '22 has front airbags. What my mechanic discovered was a bad bushing in the passenger side leaf spring. He noticed rust around the bushing and play when he yanked side-to-side on the spring. The solution was that the bushing was pressed out and replaced with a new one. I no longer have the knocking sound.
