I looked up an image of that particular store. I wouldn't say she was living inside in the sign. It looks like she was living over top of the storefront, behind the sign.

Inside the sign: the 5-foot wide, 8-foot high sign is accessible from the roof of the store and has a door.
A mini desk, her clothing. A Keurig coffee maker. A printer and a computer — things you'd have in your home." She also had laid flooring down inside the sign.
