Probably won’t listen to me, but I gotta say it — don’t never give up your CDL no matter how F’d up you think the industry is, and it is a F’d up mess — there’s people out there that ain’t in the truck’n business but have trucks that are pretty sexy and would give their left nut to have you on the payroll and you can have a lot of fun — just say’n

Have you thought about being a mobile small engine mechanic? My dad used to have a guy like that take care of the lawn mower and snowblower and didn't mind paying extra (and if you knew my dad, you'd know that's saying a lot) for him to come out so he didn't have to go to him.

I be one of them — and I’ll keep it and keep on keeping on till I cork off, can’t pass the physical or become a danger to others — I still can get it done and enjoy it and the peoples just not the office pukes and goober F’s that are making the rules — those MF’ers ought to be tarred, feathered and hung in public for ruining a good trade

    Nice reminder Michael! Lol .
I dibbled and dabbled all of this last week getting acquainted with the procedures at the airport and the app , best times , bad times and just the learning curve of uber so today I went at things whole hog and this Uber thing will more than pay my bills If I hustle .
I'm still green as grass at this but haven't made less than 27.93 an hour or less than 1.06 a mile ..it's easy work in a mid size suv and the vast majority of customers are easy to deal with.
No boss to answer to and set your own hours.
I'm hopeful the trucking industry can finally kiss 3.5 million accident free miles goodbye as they've been set on doing lately and I can grant they're wish .
I will give hummer credit for not being total liers as my last check was in the bank this morning accurate to the penny .

I've never done Uber, but I have considered it in the past and I research it from time to time, to see what the markets like and all that. I go to Reddit "Uber Drivers" subreddit for all of that. You can put your city into the search bar for that specific subreddit and it'll bring you up useful posts as well.

The biggest piece of advice they seem to have is to not only get a forward facing dash cam (which I'm assuming you already have), but also a driver/passenger facing dashcam WITH audio.

You need the audio as well. Reason being, cover your ###. While 99% of the customers are probably great, you get 1% of them who can and will lie on your ### and make #### up. If the customer files a complaint with Uber (so more than a bad review, but less than a police report/less than a formal lawsuit) than Uber WILL blacklist you from the app while they investigate.

It seems to be with Uber you are guilty until proven innocent, instead of the other way around. Which you coming from trucking, you're already used to that, but unlike trucking your freight now has the crazy human element to it lol.

If a passenger says you sexually harassed them, or perhaps called them a racial slur, if you don't have audio and driver/passenger facing dashcam footage then Uber is going to take the customers words over yours. Uber doesn't care, you're a 1099 employee and there's a thousand more people willing to do the job should you quit.

Obviously you would never do something like that to your passengers, but I'm saying these kinds of false accusations do happen when people are having a bad day, straight up crazy, or have perceived slights against them committed by you the driver.

You can search the internet including YouTube and Reddit and I'm assuming social media as well about crazy passengers doing crazy #### and/or making stuff up about the drivers and the drivers having no recourse to defend themselves because they didn't have driver/passenger facing cameras WITH audio.

Sorry for the long post, good to see you doing well. You deserve it after everything you've been through professionally this past year.

Well this didn't take long but I did my part for the betterment of humanity today when I ended up in north O at the hoodmart ...aka Walmart.
1st trip out of there was a crippled up old black woman who could barely walk , I loaded up her groceries and helped her into the car handing her her cane ....got her to her apartment about a mile away and carried her groceries to her apartment making sure she was ok and safe ...very ugly area .
Next trip back to hoodmart was to grab miss baby momma and her 2 brats and take them home but not before I told her brats they would walking home if they didn't immediately knock they're off the bad behavior, luckily their mother agreed with how I handled it and they became instant angels .

Hopefully you won’t have to deal with drunks that puke in your car. My GF’s daughter in law lasted two weeks with Uber after that happened twice. Tried the Uber eats bs after that and got jacked on the tips.
