It depends on how they spec it I guess. That one has the open cabinets and table tops that mine doesn't have. Plus I noticed that the windshield is way more curved than these older ones, and the plastic in front of the windshield that overhangs the engine and firewall is bigger, and it looks like the cab is even farther forward which is why these things ride so rough, your only a couple feet behind the steer axle.

Mine has the table under the bottom bunk, but in order to use it you have to move any mattress completely out of the way. These come with what amounts to couch cushions on the bottom bunk so you just slide them over the seating area and raise the table. But the mechanism on mine hangs down and takes up some storage room. On the new ones the bottom bunk folds up, mattress and all, and latches to the back wall and the table folds out of the bottom of the bunk...a lot better design than mine.

Probably some lawyer made them design a "safer" mechanism that can be controlled by the computer. It's like my wife's RAM with the rotary dial gear selector. If you open the door to pull (or back) on a set of ramps to work under the vehicle, the computer puts it back in park...you can't move it with the door open.

Made it from Missoula to Box Elder, SD. Since my load is so light I took the US-212 shortcut thru the indian res. Will be able to get to St. Joe tomorrow then to south central TN on Friday and will be able to deliver on Saturday.

but don’t you see? They have to create a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist

In the words of the great Bill Shakespeare who obviously faced similar problems 'twas ever thus'. upload_2024-10-17_10-39-56.png

    SSB,
The wife and I just came back from our 2 week trip to SD and we stayed about 2 miles from the Loves in Box Elder. We were hoping to be able to meet some drivers from this forum but never did. Meeting you there would have topped off the trip. We are currently in Savannah, Tn and leave here Nov. 1 for a 6 month stay in Pensacola, Fl. near exit 7 on I-10 which is about 15-20 minutes from The Oasis truck stop in Robertsdale, Al. if anyone is there and wants to meet and chat.

Lol, they did it to give them the auto braking option to help them make the truck easier for all the new drivers, Freightliner seems to be on a mission to make their vehicles car like to drive.

The Derailed Diner is awesome at the Oasis. At least it was when I was there a few years ago.
