    It's not a flight deck. Use another piece of drywall behind the patch on either side. Done.

    I gotcha...I guess you could do that. It's not supporting anything.
    Really good idea.
    Now about the ceiling. The texturing will be tricky. Plus, when you put new paint on, you're probably going to have to paint it all. No?

    The dry wall was attached by a foam. I'll get some dry wall screws. I have half of the ceiling joists exposed on each side. Either that or I buy some caulk that would work. I think screws are easier.


    Popcorn, you can buy something premixed and apply it with a brush according to YouTube.
