Thanks for the detailed response. I appreciate your advice. I think I’m on track for pretty much what you’re suggesting. I’ll be going out for about 10-12 weeks starting this week, then mini vacation for a long week. Repeat that 2 more times and I’ll be past my year mark. I’ll be getting all my endorsements done when I take time in 10 weeks. Hazmat fingerprints are already done. The job I’m at now pays pretty well. I was very happy to get accepted. It’s at 79-89k and only required 6 months experience. The truck they gave me is not great but it runs, and has a fridge. No APU tho. I’m planning on getting into fuel or oil I think. I’d really like to be able to make 150k a year not owning any equipment. I don’t care where it is what shift which company type of equipment or anything really. Just want to get fat sacks regularly for a few years at least, then I’ll try to go local or something else where I have a good life balance. Maybe Walmart.

I’ve heard it can be step ford wives. But the benefits are very enticing

Yeah it’s probably a little bit uppity and extra. But hey I’ll pretend to be as safe as they want me to pretend for an extra 30 or 40 grand a year!

I’ll tell you now that you can make 150k a year hauling chemicals or fuel in Portland or Seattle.

Just make sure you look pretty.

Yeah your in a good spot. Making enough money that your not needy. If you need more than 13 months to find that 110 or 120k job. You won't be hurting to badly. 150k what are you thinking. Gas hauling out in California?

It's not stepfotd wives lol. You'd be held accountable and some drivers can't deal with that. The saftey bonus keeps most drivers in line. Losing it would be several thousand dollars in missed extra pay.

Note also that....those places/areas where there is the higher pay -- also usually have a (much) higher cost of living.

    So pay-wise...it's all usually relative.

One exception: Florida. Many driving jobs just don't pay well -- but in urban areas (& especially in the southern part of the state) the cost of living is rather high. :(

Mandatory on all pre trips, apply hair gel and remove stray nose hairs.

I haven’t figured out exactly where I’d like to work long term but I’m sure open to just about anything. California wouldn’t be my first choice. I’m hoping there’s a need in the oil fields and I can go drag a camper every out to the middle of nowhere and haul for them. Water oil fuel whatever gets me paid!
