would also like info on them. I'm trying to get on with an O/O who is going to lease one of his tractors to Miller.

I sent my application to them online and heard from them in less than 24hours. Got my TWIC card in less than a week. I am really leaning toward going to work for them. Everything I have heard about this company is way more positive than negative, and that it getting pretty rare in the trucking industry. I want a company to retire from, and that is almost non-existant anymore. Here is hoping for the best.

    First week is done.
Monday first thing, drug test and DOT. Standard stuff.
Met my trainer and he and I went over pre trip on the trailer and equipment VERY thoroughly. I have no tank experience, so this was very helpful.
We had a delivery of about 160 miles round trip on Tuesday. I couldn't drive yet, waiting on my drug test results to get back, but I did get to pre-trip, and hook up at the customer.
The rest of the week was basically local stuff, getting used to the product moving, tank wash procedures, loading procedures, etc.
Pay is $15.80 per hour for all hours local. Days were anywhere from 8 to 12 hours, depending on the shippers.
Next week is orientation and truck issue till Thursday. I'll let ya know how that goes.

    Just got done with orientation
3 1/2 days in Jackson MS. Single room, nice hotel. They sent me down on Amtrack, since I was picking up my truck there.
Typical orientation stuff...safety, haz mat review, tanker ops, loading and unloading. Third day you go in the yard and do hands on with the tank.
Breakfast is at the hotel. Lunch is provided everyday and they give you a $25 dollar card for Subway. I went to Wal-Mart and got lunch meat and bread since the rooms have fridges and microwaves.
Most of the managers go to lunch with you, including the President of the Company. He was a genuinely nice guy, and made it a point to talk to all the people in our class, one on one. Very impressed that he took the time with us.
Overall, it was an excellent experience and Miller gives the impression of a first rate company that actually means it when they preach safety first.
Truck I got was a 2007 9900i with APU installed. Not stripped down at all, more O/O specs than anything.
Looking forward to getting out into the system and pulling loads for them. Right now they are busy and actually turning down loads. Not a bad position to be in.

Good luck with your new carreer. I went to visit the Bartow Fl terminal a while back and they seemed pretty cool. I just wasn't interested in leasing anything right out of the gate because thats all they could offer me at the time. So I drove for an OO that didnt know the definition of Safety for 3 weeks (should have quit after one), then to another company that closed the shop I was running out of anr relocated to NC. Third times a charm so they say and looking forward to my next one .LOL

But I was impressed with how the Miller TM handled his drivers issues while we talked about things for over an hour. They are definitely a support network where everybody knows your name. It's hard to evaluate this industry unless you get out, meet TM's and pound the pavement instead of a keyboard. After reading your post and from my experience, you made a good choice and hope you keep posting. BOL Redwolf
