Ohio CMVE is using the private businesses at this exit to do inspections.
I don't want to be harrassed on my 34 hour break.

Yup right there at the Sheetz. I've seen them bring in trucks, and I've seem them get one at random. I see they've upgraded from inspections at the rest area.
silverspur Thanks this. -
Any truck stop that allows a DOT in any state to perform an inspection on their property should be boycotted by all drivers. Any state can perform their inspections in a rest area or state owned land and not in a private business. I would avoid any and all truck stops that allow this practice.

I would boycott Sheetz....but I like eating there..lol I'm not so sure Sheetz even knows. The last time I went there, a truck was trailing the DOT into the truck stop, and he instructed her to park in a specific spot, so I don't know if they're actually setting up shop there or if they pick off trucks on the highway and just have them come to the truck stop for inspection....it's a lot of space there so I can somewhat see their point of view for using that space. Typically I park at Speedway on the other side of the overpass. DOT ain't going to do an inspection there. It's too congested and that lot needs repaving in the worst way.Last edited: Oct 7, 2025

Drivers ##### about inspections on the side of the highway. Now they are doing inspections in a safer spot and drivers are still #####ing. What a surprise.
