Ah, things really are looking up. I hadn't heard about the 401k coming back, that's good news. Does it look like we may be getting a raise as well?

If I recall correctly, you're on the 1 out, 1in thing? Sounds like they plan on keeping you close to home. Is that like being a local driver with a sleeper?

Happy to see you still think you made a choice, there ARE much worse companies out there, believe me, I know.:biggrin_255:

Sounds like something the kids did in the old show Romper Room.:biggrin_2559: Is the cheer supposed to pump them up for work?:biggrin_255:

The "Walmart Cheer" is mandatory at each beginning of shift meeting - the Mngr yells out "Give me W" (You yell back - W!!) all the way through the word "Walmart" - Then You have a store specific little cheer - our is "Walmart 3717 -MY ! WALMART !!--Whoooahh . It is silly and NO ONE believes in it.

I appreciate the job and the paycheck..And there are alot of good folk that I work with who work hard.

Alot of people wont believe how hard and fast Wmart wants you to work processing stock on midnights !! I literally leave soaked with sweat..all for $300.00 a wk !! and If you dont do your job fast enough You get "coached" and they constantly remind you that You will get coached for this or that.

Thus my desire for the cushy , high paying job of an OTR Driver ( LOL).

The folks in corporate probably think it creates camaraderie or some BS. I'm sure after completing the cheer, the heavens open up, glorious light shines down on the workers, and everyone is compelled to work harder and better.

That's what they are Hoping for : What I think about after the cheer is "How much longer till I can get my CDL " lol.

It continues after the cheer with forced "respect" and pleasantry from mngmnt..things like "Sir ? How much longer for your task to be completed ??" wich really means.."Hurry Your Sorry ##### UP!!"

Some do make Walmart work for them though..I think Managers make a decent living..BUT dept Mngrs are now over 3 depts. instead of just one..and they want the majority of working hours to be on 3rd shift. They want everyone to multu task at light speed w/ a sense of urgency !!

Home Depot did the EXACT same thing lol, "Give me an "H"......all the way through, "What's that spell?"...."Home Depot!"(I felt like shouting out LOWE'S!!")...... "What do we do""....."We kick #####!"

I wonder who stole it from who?:biggrin_25523:

You forgot the birds start singing!!!

I think of it this way, and no offense to anyone that has been in the higher ranks. It's a two class thing, for some reason, not all the time, the ones higher up are sold a bill of goods by some half baked consulting company. They are convinced by the consultants that the lowly people that actually produce the product, need to be nurtured, similar to the parent/child relationship. To me that line of trash is VERY condescending. These programs cost megabucks. I can give many examples, but permit me only one. I promise.:biggrin_25525:

I was in a "coaching" session with two people I represented. Management had their say, I/we, had ours. Anyway, once that was over, management excused one of the guys. No way was I leaving, when one of the represented people was still being "coached". I heard one of the most condescending line of BS come out of managements mouth that I have ever heard before or after. One of the managers actually had the gall to say to the represented guy, "You know what Sam? You're one of the smartest people I've ever met". Now I usually maintain a good poker face, but I know my jaw just about hit the table.
I think that's how companies the likes of mallwart operate. The problem is that people, not all, but enough, actually buy that trash.
Incredible, but, 100% true, no embellishment, factual event. I felt like puking right there on the table.:biggrin_25510::biggrin_25510:

That happens a lot of places.
For instance, I work for a hospital. Every 2 yrs they will have an employee survey. They go through all the hub bub and then address the low score items.
We (employees) create groups that are suppose to come up with ideas/opinions, etc that will magically cure the problems.
    Bla..bla..bla..

It is all a bunch of whowee that is suppose to make the employees feel like they have a say in how things work, etc.
Nothing ever really changes unless mgmt wants it to in the first place.

Some people buy it, some people are indifferent.

    Hey Johnday :

Im too new to post PM's but i see your from MI..My hometown is Port Huron, currently living in Nashville. I sure miss the water ( Lake Huron that is..). Seems I turned this thread into a walmart rant.. whoops !

Anyhow..Im a wannabee who has spent months researching forums and blogs about trucking, and i THINK I have a realistic expectation about what the life entails (warts and all). Not going in this to be a "Super trucker" but a guy that hasn't had a decent paycheck in sometime and think I would enjoy the chance to see some sights, and not be micro managed.

Applied online to Millis transport..( training provided ) and Schnieder and Crete on my wish list (if I have to put myself through a CDL school). Thats it wanted to say Hi and enjoy your posts.

    johnday and difference-maker Thank this.
