I know that this is not about any company but can someone explain t-call to me? I am an old dinosaur and when I drove you picked up a load and delivered it unless there were some unusual circumstances.
How are you compensated? By the miles that you have driven? Sorry for any confusion but curious minds want know like me. Thanks.
Explain t-call please

You get paid for the portion you do, the other driver gets paid for their part.
navypoppop Thanks this. -
I’ve never done this “t-call” thing but I’ll take a shot at it based on what I’ve read.
“WTF?! This load goes to XXXX?? I’m offended. I shouldn’t have to go there because I’m too good for that!”
Dispatcher: Ok driver. I’m familiar with XXXX and I know they suck, so drop that at YYYY and I’ll give that to somebody I like less than you. -
Sometimes that crap happens. Usually its because there is too much time on a load so it allows the driver to grab something else and keep moving. Or a driver picking it up and t calling to go home, etc. Basically a swap without meeting up with a driver.navypoppop, MACK E-6 and 48Packard Thank this.

IWX used to use it as insentive to get us to hustle produce from Salinas to Columbus, Ohio. We would get a message of if you can TCALL that to the Columb us yard by Wed or Thurs am, you dont have to go to Hunts Point. Also turned us for the west coast faster. Normally pickup a preload for Springfield or Kingman.

I think it stands for "transfer call" (the 'call' part is what they call the message you send in as in, "load call", "empty call" etc). You're basically dropping the load and paperwork somewhere other than the consignee. Like @wulfman75 said, could be too much time on the load, or in my case a couple weeks ago, a load I didn't have enough hours to complete and they needed to get the load moving, so I initially t-called it at the Mechanicsburg yard, then they changed it and I had to take it to the other driver in Scranton who was gonna deliver it in NH. Back when I was on the TX to AZ loop with Shaffer, there was a regional driver who was shuttling Red Bull loads from the shipper to the yard, basically making the shipper believe the loads were moving towards their delivery. Each one had a trip number, so when he got to the Phoenix yard, he would t-call it and move on to the next one.
