I have a 4964 with a blown big cam 4 in it, I can buy a 8v92 for cheap. Not sure about rear end ratios. Truck has 13 speed, deep reduction, double diff lock.
I'm a bit confused. I have driven trucks with 8V92TA and 6V92TA, but that was long before diff locks were offered as I recall. Also, a 13 speed with a deep reduction? That's new to me. A 15 speed with deep reduction ( RTO 14615, or 12515) would have been built prior to when diff locks in each axle (cross locks) were available. Maybe I am wrong though.
I would think that it would be very hard to find parts for a two-stroke Detroit in this day and age. Being able to buy it for cheap and being able to make money with it are two different things.
In regard to rear end ratios, and tire size, two stroke Detroits do not like to pull hard below 1700 rpm, but they are a very durable engine. Fuel mileage in today's standards is going to suck regardless, but don't plan on being able to run a two-stroke at 1400 RPM all day.
