covenant sucks

 

Sometimes their disorganization works to my advantage....

A few times payroll has paid me more than what I made cause of someone's mistake.

Lately, I noticed they paid me $96.00 for detention.... although there's no detention pay in this dedicated division I work....

I'll not complain this one....

 

I have been with covenant awhile now I stared here and Now in a trainer you can't go by what other EX drivers say about any company because they are EX drivers ! All big companys are going to have complaints no matter what . Alot of it is what you as a driver puts into it . One thing I can say about covenant is that in the last few years I have been there is that they have been fare with me . I get the miles I get home and My check don't bounce !!! Now if you go to any company with under a years EXP and whine because you want all the good miles all the time it ain't gonna happen what I'm saying is do your 1 year don't whine and you will earn fair treatment no matter where you go

 

Nice Rocks. That happens to me too and it's SWEET lol I Have to say I have no complaints with covenant . Now don't think that ( as with any company) that I get home when I want because I don't you have to understand that you ARE a truck driver and sometimes they have to route you back home this means finding you a load and that may take a day or a week but you will get home just may take a bit all I can say is WELCOME to the world of TRUCKING be safe

 

LOL.... All I know is that they are disorganized, and make many mistakes. But I don't let anything slip through the cracks. I always communicate as many times as it's necessary to make sure there's no misunderstanding - cause they don't communicate well with each other - and I always double check every information I get or give them.
During my "hometime" at the main terminal in Chattanooga, I always talk face to face to some "key" people about whatever issues there might be. I like to know them by name, and like for them to know me too.
Good attitude and professionalism can help you a lot.
Yesterday asked foreman at the shop to set my "new" truck to at least 65 mph and he will do it. I shall see.
After repairs are done, will ask my dispatcher to let me take the truck for a road test on the hwy before I go back on the board.
If he doesn't agree, at least he will not be able to blame me if truck has problems after I leave terminal with a load.
Any co. you go, learn their system and play the game.

 

I am sure the reason Covenant Transport has so many driver that quit is because they are Newbe's and after their 30 day with trainer and they want to go solo . They want new truck. want this and want that, and expect to get what they want.. I am not downing or raising this company...


But From what I learned from experience., is that You will gain their respect after about the 1st year,,,, Yes You will get #### on from time to time.. But grit your teeth and get thru it.. Everyone who hires on for first time expects anything they want... You have to show them you are not like " other drivers" and are a runner and abide by the rules and DOT rules..

This is my 3rd time back and because of a lot of unfortanant events in my past ,, not with covenant ,,I was able to be hired back.


Do not refuse any loads no matter how crappy it is. Be On Time! Do not drive like a 4 wheeler. Do not Complain unless it is resonable. You are a truck driver and be prepaired to be on the road. Do your work right and
dont curse out your dispatch! I will garentee you that you will be sitting in truckstops for days on out.

People wonder why they are not getting loads or getting crappy loads..,,. Well you pissed someone off. I have done a load with 4 stops,, a load with sitting 8 hrs in Chicago Il for a 2 mile run to the Dropyard.

I have done lots of Con-way, UPS, WorldPac (with 4 drops) Verizion Wireless. One Estese load not pup trailers.

If you set your self up for disaster you will manafest it.

90% OF COVENTANT trucks have Eletronic Logs now. Werner has them too ..

Eletronic Logs have its pros and Cons... seems like the hours go by faster than it did on paper. Electronic logs and be entimidating at first. but if you know how to turn on a computer ,than the logs wont be any problem.

I agree with almost all you said covndriver... I think Cov. is a co. for beginners, specially beginners that had some difficulty being hired at other cos. or problems with their records. Once you are hired, suck it up, have a good attitude, be always on time, don't get tickets, don't have accidents, keep good language, be professional, efficient, keep good communication with everybody and be a good runner. After first year all these things will start paying off. But I maintain that Cov. doesn't pay well. So, once you get your one year or two experience with Cov. move on to a better place. Covenant is my favorite company that I love to hate. They are good at what they do, and like any dance (working here is like doing a slow grind with your parent) (lol), the better dancer one partner is over the other, the more the deficiency stands out for the dancer that is lacking... If you are not a pro, it will show, and show big. They will eat you alive. If I were as well versed in trucking as they are in running a trucking company, I would have no complaints. I recognize this so I hold my whinning and try to improve daily.

 

I took your advice and spent all evening reading all 101 pages of this thread... and all I can say is I will not be going to Covenant. Of all the horrible things this family went through in 2008-2009, people are posting about the same problems today. Thank you, thank you, thank you. No Covenant for this team!

 

I'm sure there are better places to team up but I didn't have any problems working there. Of course that was in 1998 so I don't know how it has changed. I just didn't like being on the road for 3 to 4 weeks at a time.
