not 100% sure, but I would say every 150,000km, I purchased a manual for my Cummins M11 it has good instructions. It is very easy if you are mechanicly minded. no harder than adjust valves on a passenger vehicle.

Cat wants you to do a valve set at the first oil change. and I agree on that is the best way on every engine. If you have not done a valve set go to a shop that will show you and listen. Buy the tools and do it every 100,000K it costs you about an inch of silicone to do it. It does save you a lot. Just a thought!

You do not ever need to do it, but they do run smoother and are more efficient when they are set properly and evenly. Most of the wear on a new engine is in the first 10,000 miles after that it is a lot slower but the valves still get tighter, as the valves wear into the head. Old engines use to get more clearance, not now. Just a thought!

how much should it cost to have the rack ran? is it true you can set the rack to make the truck perform better than stock.

Don't see where that would help any? Too tight and you'll break something and too loose and they will rattle.

I company i worked for did not have it done at the advised miles and that cost them big $, . F***ck N dic8 heads I just had a big laugh that day he he he. Normally the rockers / tappets/ valve clearances tighten over time and this causes excess pressure which can result in parts breaking, so yes have them reset or reset them yourselve if you can.
