Yes buddy, I DO love driving for a living, but what better place to take a reset than my beloved Nevada hmmm? It's one of the perks of going to California! Beats taking 34 hours in the Utah desert, no?
By the way, my wife told me it's okay to gamble, just not okay to LOSE! She said, "if you win send me the money - and if you lose just stay out until you earn it back driving, then send me THAT money!" Gosh I just love her to death... I'm just playing - she's the best. And by the way, I did send her $$$ after winning on Sunday in Wendover, so there!
Lobster buffet was incredible last night - just had to get through the line around the block practically to get in. Well worth it though. This Boomtown is nice, highly recommend for truckers with some time to spend - ample parking, inexpensive hotel and not as busy as the downtown Reno or Vegas areas.
Today is back to the grind - wash the clothes, take a shower and get ready to leave tonight - I can leave about 10pm PT for my drop in Livermore CA tomorrow morning - then ready to go for the produce load coming home.
Johnny, seriously, best of luck today at the dentist - I'm ROOTing for you! Call me when you feel like you can talk again comfortably my friend...

I thought that was you. I'm at the willington ta now. Make sure you go to the distribution center and not the store, trust me I've made that mistake plenty of times, and if you turn and the distribution center is on your left, use the second enterance, they don't use the first one. Walk up to the second glass door, it says home depot on it. Then you park right where you come in, there is a porta potty there, just back in there and they come get you, when you unload you gotta disconnect the emergency line, lower the landing gear and sit and wait. Trust me I did it last week lol. Ill see you up there, there's a rest area right before the exit if you need a place to park tonight.

Hey there, I called into dispatch Wednesday morning right at 8am and was told to hang tight, they were in the process of putting together my load. I hung up and had breakfast then the phone rang and it was Louie telling me to head to Jacksonville to p/u a load at the port.
I was watching the space shuttle coming in for a landing on TV when all of a sudden there was this huge rumbling followed by the biggest explosion I ever heard. It was a double sonic boom from the shuttle. The 2 Labs I have literally jump in the air right into my arms. So much for watch dogs. After figuring out what had just happen I had to calm both dogs down, then said my goodbyes and left.
I got to the Port right at 2pm, showed them my TWIC Card and went to the loading dock to pick up my 7 rolls of paper that weighed 5500lbs each. I had a delivery first thing Thursday morning in Spartanburg, SC then had my preplan to drop and hook at one of our regular customers in Greenville SC for a load going to Mountaintop, PA.
I was empty by 9am Thursday morning and drove the 40 miles to the shipper. It was the first time for me at this particular shipper, so after arriving it took me all of 30 minutes to drop and hook, get my paperwork and leave. Not bad.
I had an open delivery for Friday morning. I figured out the miles and knew if I got there that night one of the yard jockeys, who work for Calex, would sign my bills and I could take my 10 hour break right there. I got there about midnight, found the yard jockey, was told what door to spot my trailer in, got my bills signed and was in bed by 12:30am. On my way up during the day Louie called and told me that he was sending me back to Florida this week as the west coast freight was light and he had to move the teams first. He told me what the pre-plans were for next week and It includes me going west.
I woke up around 10am made a cup of coffee then drove the 15 miles to the yard. My truck needed an oil change and A/C work plus my new mattress was there also. I got my dispatch and was ready to go around 1pm. My Florida load is being loaded overnight and I'll pick it up around 7am. It delivers Thursday at 5am so I get to spend a few days home with my wife. I'll be home Sunday afternoon and leave out around 10pm Wednesday for my delivery. So right now I'm sitting in Lamar PA resting. About an hour ago the Peoplenet in my truck started beeping, and beeping and beeping. All my pre-planned loads for next week were sent to me. After unloading Thursday morning, I go back to Jacksonville and pick up the same rolls of paper going to the same receiver in Spartanburg SC for Friday morning. Then it's back to Greeneville for another drop and hook going back to Mountaintop PA for a Saturday morning drop and hook. Then picking up a loaded trailer right there for a load going to Sacramento CA. Let me tell you, it sure is nice to be able to be pre-planned like this. It takes the guessing out of this job! Be safe all, God Bless.Hitman and The Challenger Thank this. -
Well, just passed my road test and physical. It looks like I will be in on Wednesday for Orientation and have a truck by that afternoon. Wish me luck! I look forward to meeting you guys either in the yard or on the road.
