Mr Powder Joint, Im not a liar but you sir are a rude person, I would never stoop so low to call anyone never mind a fellow trucker a liar. You dont believe it so thats your opinion, I know its the truth and thats why after 50 years of driving long haul, I never got one ticket for anything, NOTHING, can you say that after your 27 years as a local yocal hauling cement up and down 99 in ca. Get a real Job, try running long haul and if you cant run with the big dogs stay on the porch. God must have loved fools,he made so many of them

jubajajo1Never once in 50 years of driving did you sit in that drivers seat and log line 1 or 2?:biggrin_255:

I took that log book and stretched ever minute out of it that I could. When you are payed based on your productivity you have a choice to take a government mandated pay cut and conform or squeeze every penny you can out of that 70 hrs.

Penalizing drivers for taking breaks and sleeping in the bunk while on the dock is crazy. Forcing drivers to drive in bad weather because they already started their 14 is unsafe. But thats what you get when you have people that are clueless making the rules.

I drove legal most of the time until they changed the rules then it was a constant fight to get on and off docks while you watched your opportunity to make money get stolen by people who where payed by the hour and didn't care.

I know its hard for you sir to believe it but I never did. I started as a teamster out of boston in the 50s, did some military time in the late sixties, came home bought a truck started hauling my own freight, then came 73 the fuel crisis and I went back to teamsters. Ive always owned my own truck and authourity for the last several years. If it dont pay, I dont take it. If its not body parts to deliver to some dying child, I will not move it in bad weather. Im sorry you dont believe me but its true. I have not and will not take a load if it is illegal to do. I have dropped loads at shippers yards trucking company yards and even bobtailed home on my own dime and said screw what Im owed, Im not doing it. I really am not that concerned about my safety but I dont want some poor civilian to die because of my stupidity. I sir, am the last of a dying breed. I will park ,MY truck, MY TRAILER if I cant do it legal. Its worked for my for over 50 years and Im not changing now. I wish you luck sir and you are welcome to believe whatever you wish to believe. Ill see you someday on the grapevine, my handle is THE WHITE HAIRED OLD MAN.

The only 2 things that I find bad about Knight, is 1 the trips are to short usually under 500 miles and take to long to do. Number 2, they are shafting the 0/0s with their so called fuel protection, they give the 0/0s a few cents off at the pump price but charge their customers 5.4% fuel surcharge per loaded mile. I was told by the 0/0 person in phoenix, thats for the company trucks not the 0/0s I explained that the company made 140.3 million dollars in fuel charges, none or which we 0/0s who pay for the fuel and the road taxes ever see a cent of. If your an 0/0 for knight do as I did contact ooida if your a member or become one and lets get our money that is owed to us. I was told at first by the 0/0 lady in phoenix OH we dont have a fuel surcharge at knight and then when I read the article in the truckers news in may Mr. Knight himself stated Oh yes we have a fuel charge to cover rising costs. When I confronted her she was tongue tied and made up some big story about how will I would be doing if I only worked harder and drove more. 0/0s for knight are company drivers and the IRS should look into them asap

Not to mention they charge O/O's a fee to drop a load on the yard. Saying it's a local delivery, the load will be picked up by a company driver and delivered with no pay. Unless you consider getting an empty trailer pay. Yet people still flock to companies like this in hopes it will be better than their last job. A few weeks later and they discover it isn't better and move on to the next company and the cycle continues. I will never understand how or why anyone would remain loyal to these cheap companies. I'm not the only one who wonders obviously because this is why they train. Glossy ads and visions of big trucks and big trucks.

All of that I can accept. Do what I did and find a smaller company that believes in more humane treatment of their drivers in the form of better pay, better trucks, better quality of life. But Knight took it a step further and throws dishonesty into the mix. Never in my life did I encounter that much dishonesty. It angers me to no end, being lied to. What's worse being lied to or being forced to look in yourself in the mirror after performing a job that requires you to lie to employees? Good going Knight, ya cheap thieving f##k.

I couldn't have said it better myself! Lying cheap theiving #####! How great it is. That;s what you get when you have people controlling a business that are Mormon ##### hiding behind their religion. Those magical underwear seems to fit them just perfectly. For those of you who are buying into Knights crap, I wish you the best of luck. Someday you will completely open your eyes and figure out how bad you are being taken advantage of. Take it from me....I was one of those drivers that always did favors no matter what terminal I was in. Did it make a difference in the long run? Certainly not! Why? Because Knight couldn't give a #### about you regardless of what you may think. They only care about one thing and one thing only.....How much money the Knights can stuff in their back pockets...At all costs.:biggrin_25511:
I am just glad I had other options and got out when I did. I feel really bad for those of you that think they have to put up with their ####. Trust me, you would be better off working at McDonalds rather than at Knight. At least you would be home every night!

i've gotten chitfaced with ren knight's friends before! ren is actually an all right guy away from work. kevin and randy knight are the chitheads. from all accounts, keith knight (ren's father) was THE man to speak with before he left the company. he wouldn't hide behind anybody. if you had an issue, you could go up to him, and voice your opinion(s) without consequence. unfortunately i wasn't at the company while keith was still there.

Well, this thread sure makes Swift sound a whole lot better. I'm sure they are very similar, but Knight drivers used to tell me just how bad things had gotten and I'd step back in my 62 mph Swift volvo and thank my lucky stars I didn't go with Knight.
