I've actually read posts from some of these geniuses where they thought that they had to sit in their sleeper in order to log sleeper berth.
It makes me laugh every time!
Hilarious!!! And absolutely true!
According to the way some of you guys think maybe the log book ought to have ten more lines in it...
Line 1. Sittin' in the drivers seat looking out the window.
Line 2. Sittin' in the drivers seat surfing the internet.
Line3. Sittin' in the passenger seat reading a book.
Line 4. Standin' outside the truck B.S.'n with another driver. (Non work related)
Line 5. Walkin' inside to pee. (There's a grey area when you just pee off the step.)
Line 6. Walkin' around the parking lot to get some excersize.
Line 7. Sittin' in the drivers seat watchin TV.
Line 8. Walkin' inside to eat.
Line 9. Sittin' on the trailer barbeque'n.
Line 10. Any other non work related nonsense that you can think of.
Line 11. Off duty.
line 12. Sleeper Berth
Line 13. Driving.
Line 14. On Duty Not Driving.
There are 4 lines in a logbook...At some point there are discretionary decisions that need to be made with regard to their use.
Some of you seem to be incapable of discretionary thought!
What if I have swivel seats in my truck and choose to watch TV from my reclining swivel seat?
Do you honestly think that that's gonna be considered on duty by anyone?
If so were they on the proper line?
As long as you are not performing WORK RELATED TASKS, You can legally log line 1 or 2 at your discretion.
I have 37 years without a single log violation...Like Tater, I speak from real world experience, Not school bullsh_t!
I LOVE THIS POST!!!!
I LOVE THIS POST TOO!!!!
FriedTater and Boardhauler Thank this. -

Sooooooooo......Enlighten me!
Where do you get any indication that I would falsify a log from pointing out the holes in your hypothetical scenario?
This ought to be good.FriedTater Thanks this. -
LMAO !! yah know W9 there are just times when ya got to hang the Baily(bout $240 for the cheap hat wearing crowd) on a perch and just preach some gospel.
My life is wheels turning counter clockwise, the clowns turning clockwise
are the ones coming from whatever defunct occupation in search of some mythical heroic dream will just not understand that 3-5 years out here
doesn't reserve you a slot at the Supper Club!
I clearly remember that time in my career, what a fool I was back then.
The hands tried to tell me,but I wouldn't have any of it.
Coming on near 10 years the light came on and all the little things came screaming back in clear focus.
It took acouple years to sort out and put in its rightful place, but once it was "set" my career really took off. (I say career because I will never be a professional truck driver as long as I hold a wheel.)
I'm seldom "Proud" but I know full well Ive done my meager share at moving this Nation the last 20 years, the previous 10 was just riding around.blackw900, Big Don, AFSTruckerswife and 1 other person Thank this. -
But I don't sit around wringing my hands like a nervous houswife wondering where to log my pee break or my meal or my shower...Because I know what's legal and what's not!
Doing it all on line 1 or line 2 doesn't constitute falsification in any way, shape or form, It simply reflects a solid knowledge of how to use a logbook without freaking out over irrelevant details.
Anyone that's ever looked at one of my logbooks can see at a glance that all required information is included and that change of duty notations are ALWAYS current.
Is that the best you can do? -
52 year old and playing grabass 20 questions is some how productive for you ?
I'm telling you the 12" cheater bar your using ain't got it
So its clear now, "You Dont know"!

There are gray areas in the rules. (But you claim there are not)
It all boils down to who and how the rules are interpreted. (Waiting for you to refer to me as a rookie trucking school whiz kid)
I agree with you that legal is the only way to run. I just prefer to CMA a little more than you do. Why leave DOT any reason to question something? -
he'll dodge it like last months rent . . . . .

Yep!
You called it!
