Use the seach function in the upper right hand corner and read the various TA threads that are out there. Any specific questions you might have, after doing the reading, I'll try to help with.

Sure, I'll answer some questions over here so we don't hijack JJ's thread. Lay em down and will answer them tomorrow when I'm awake and sober.

The main difference between a 600 and 660 is that the 660 uses ULSD fuel.
If its bad weather and you don't feel safe, pull over and let them know.
Average length of haul? Shortest I've had is 100 and the longest, I think, was 2700. Average, between DH and loaded-1000.
All your other questions have been answered b4 and alot of them in the Transam thread in this very section.

Yes, the headlights and front grills are different. Look closely.

Thanks Danny. Yes the styling is a little different. It also has all that newer emissions crap on it that the 600 didn't have.

I have no experience with TransAm, but have been coming across a few of their drivers lately. One recently, came fresh out of truck school and they convinced him to do the lease purchase deal. Poor guy was really in a kink. Hadn't been home for 3 months and wasn't making any take home money. We had a rather lengthy discussion while unloading in Omaha. I really felt sorry for him.

That being said, I have no idea if TransAm is good or bad, but I would strongly advise not letting them talk you into going the lease purchase game until you figure out how freight runs and how to manage costs with a truck. A year minimum, and for some, a lot more. I really hate to see anyone crash and burn in this business without having had a decent chance to make a go of it.

TransAm has been around a long time. I am sure quite a few drivers like being there. But, go in with eyes wide open and don't jump into anything unless you are totally comfortable with it and have all the facts to make a sound decision.

    Good Luck!

Good post Cowpie1, as I current drvr with TA, I have always advised against doing the lease program. They do make it hard not to do so tho with lots of underhanded ways and with telling them how much money they can make as an L/O. For myself, I think a drvr needs at least 3 years experience before a decision is made on whether to become an O/O or not. Notice I say O/O and not lease. Have heard there are some good companies out there tho with honest lease programs.
