Just don't be a moron and you will more than likely have no problems. If its comfortable shut down. If its not then at least be smart enough to 1. Park legally not in emergency parking. 2. Turn off your lights. 3. Don't park in the in and out lot next to CHP.

Rocks, I understand what you mean about adapting to high temperatures. However, the hotter it is, the more sleep we tend to lose.
The prisoners of war got used to their living conditions and adapted as well as they could. But it doesn't mean it was right, and it is NOT right to treat we truckers worse than dogs are treated.

This recent frenzy of "f" with the truckers by creating nonsensical idling laws is out of control and potentially dangerous to us, and to the general motoring public. It has got to stop. Driving while on the verge of falling asleep because of not getting adequate rest will sooner or later cause us to become a danger behind the wheel. Just as dangerous as drugged driving.

I minimize idling whenever I can, but will NOT submit myself to inhumane treatment.
Rocks, this rant is not directed at you, but at the stupid and ignorant law makers.

Yes I know its an old thread but yes they do write tickets for idling your truck I have seen them do it at the point of a gun and it was 104 that day. Mind you it was a few years ago but they will do it.
I just spoke to a driver who said they are now doing it to trucks that are running APU's because its the same as running your truck.

    Strike against Califonicate anyone???

Thats exactly what mega's want. As soon as you all leave CA they will begin this all over the country. I will laugh at you all and remind you of when you turned your backs on all of us west coast drivers. You will all be working for megas or in another profession in a few years because you didnt take a stand with us over the last few years.

I run a CARB approved Honda EU3000is generator. Good for my rooftop ac, heat, battery charging, etc. 2hrs of gas = 12hrs of AC. Yeah, I know the law regards how much gas I can carry, as well as having looked at every other option out there. For under $3k for my complete setup that weighs @200lbs all in, I have yet to see anything else that compares. Batteries running ac for only 10hrs are useless IMHO. If you can't find an option that can be run for days on end, then dont bother.

I got a ticket from a CARB idiot 2 yrs ago on Hesperia, Ca at the Pilot. $300 for SEVEN minutes of idle time, while I brewed a pot of coffee.

The mega trucking companies don't call the shots on wall street. We shut three puppies down Mr. Big Brother himself aka Mr. Obama aint gonna like that him and his boys on wall street might get their feelings hurt.
Let me clarify, we shut off these keys lots and I mean lots of people would get hit on the wallet real hard and I do mean real hard!!!
The sad part is it would become political and its not about politics our strike would be about fairness and humane treatment of a class of people who work physically and mentally has hard as foot soldiers and sacrifice as much in terms of home time when you boil it all down.
We are Santa Clause we shot that turkey we brought that bacon through your door we are your pastors for we bring you your bibles and we are your prison guards for we bring you the stuff to build your prisons.
Yet we are supposed to sacrifice our basic comforts in the name of national security for some idiot's lungs that probably drives a jacked up 4X4 that's illegally modified under the hood so he can go hug a tree on the weekends???

My friends don't think our comments don't go unnoticed...
Mr. Snowden pointed that out very clearly.
And I would gladly sit down with any of our comrades and talk over a cold glass of lemon aid.
