i am going to swift in dec. and was wandering if they pull medical records im aware of the dot physical but did not know if they pull medical records. i am not hiding anything i was mis diagnosed with epilepsy. the hospital gave me medicine i was allergic to and it threw me into a siezure, at the same time hey were testing my brain waves with this funky machine and of course it was screwed up. i went to another doctor and he said i was fine same test differant results(go figure) anyway long story short dont know if i should tell them or not.

you should tell them about the whole experience, but they do not pull medical records as far as i know. they do do a pretty good background on you, but i'm not sure what is involved in it. but when in doubt, tell them and everything will be fine

I agree. Get every bit of documentation you can that PROVES, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that you do not have a condition that provokes seizures. Swift WILL send you back home if you show up for school/orientation without sufficient proof.

I can't overemphasize this. Plus, you've been talking to a Swift recruiter. It's not their job to decide what is enough with respect to documentation. Matter of fact, they, the recruiters aren't supposed to talk much about medical issues (HIPPA Laws). I'd be willing to bet that not a single class of students has not had a member or two or three or four.....get sent home because their documentation was either non-existent or not substantial enough for the medical examiner. The examiner is the one signing off on the card so they are, understandably, reluctant to put their jobs on the line. Good luck to you and stay in touch with us!

Swift asked me about my back surgery back in '05. No paaper work or investigation.

Too bad you even mentioned this as they don't check.

Prime on the other hand sent 10 pages of crap to the doctor. He wanted to charge them $50 to fill it out. I think they wanted me to pay for it. :biggrin_25523:

Swift isn't concered with BMI either. You ought to see the lard buckets at some of the terminals!

Make sure you take all the information with you when you go...dr's number, name, addy, fax #. Even with getting the Swift paperwork filled out prior to going. Just cover your bases. Also get that letter from the Dr. even if your recruiter says you don't need it. PLEASE trust me on this item. Make sure you've got your own back covered so if there is any question you can immediately produce information and the letter.

It's good to be forewarned but even better to be foreARMED. *nods*
