I just moved to Florida to "snowbird" it this year. You guys have me really thinking about giving Calex a call. BTW...

Monday the 16th was 2 months for me. It's been pretty good for the most part. I do get home every weekend. Only exception was the first one out because I didn't get started driving til late in the day on a thursday so I satayed out thru the weekend to get a check. My truck is in pretty good shape for the mileage, it's got some grease stains and all from previous drivers but it apparently wasn't beat to hell like the first one they tried to issue me. Although I'm still sitting home tonight because I did have a road service call today that caused the delivery to need changing til tomorrow morning so I will be getting back out tuesday morning which mean I probably won't be home til Saturday afternoon. Biggest problem I have is I don't like the local running but the miles are there and my checks are nice so I'm just dealing with it. Also there have been some issues with they way I'm being dispatched on some loads, not enough hrs, running out of hrs at a dock, etc, when I have made it known that it's going to be a problem. I have made safety aware of it so we'll see. I left a very good job to go to Calex, home every night, full campany paid benefits, etc. So far I can say I made the right decision to jump ship, if I can get off the local that would be great and get the other thing taken care of I don't see any reason I won't be here quite a while as long as I don't screw up. I'm still trying to adjust to not being home, miss my dog and my girl and doing what I want when I want but it was a change I was looking into making for a while. I researched a boat load of other companies, many just hung up on me when it came to experience because they didn't consider what I was doing any good for their purposes or enough experience because I was home at night. I made the phone call after seeing this thread and here I am. I hope it works out, I want it to work out. If you want to work and make a decent living then this is a good place for you. Haven't been given any BS here. What I've been told and what those following along are reading here is the way it is. Could be a hell of a lot worse, just read the other threads on this board.

This is exactly why I chose OTR, you local guy's work way to hard for me. I'm now at the T/A in Greencastle taking my 10. tomorrow I'll be taking my 10 at 5pm. The hardest I had to work today was at the T/A in Roanoke when I was getting fuel, I had to back up and switch pumps, that was very exhausting.

Good for you Al. It makes me fell good about what I have to say about Calex, especially when 4 drivers came onboard and after a few months are still happy. Did you ask Jim or Mort about getting dispatch to send you out OTR? Go to them and have them talk to Louie.
