I have a Knight story. I was working for the Seattle terminal. Most of the drivers in the company refused to go there it had gotten so dishonest.
You see, Knight doesn't operate as one big company. Every terminal is treated like a franchise. Seattle gave me a Phoenix truck to drive that had a dead battery the day I got on it. After a few weeks of driving it, the dead battery problem got so bad I couldn't shut the truck off. I brought this up at the Seattle terminal, but they felt Phoenix should fix it because it was their truck. Phoenix felt Seattle should pay for it because they were using it. Well, one day I got stuck at a truck stop in Idaho because I didn't want to idle the truck any more and shut it off. When I called the shop they felt it was my fault the battery was dead and I was forced to wait for another Knight driver with jumper cables to come by who was willing to stop. I took the truck back to where I got it and parked in the the very same parking spot I got it from.
As far as sitting time, it's because when you go to a different terminal, you are not one of their drivers and go to the back of the line for loads and that's where you stay until all their drivers are loaded. They said it was a problem they were working on. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't.
I hated going home because I knew soon as I got there I would be required to do "favors" by delivering loads someone else dropped off. I always delivered my own, but some drivers there probably never delivered any loads. But it was the dead battery that tipped the scales for me. Never again.

Swift, Knight, same soup different bowl. How do I find a way to weed out these kinds of jobs so I can go to work and stop cluttering up my job resume??

ALL the big companies operate in the same soup. You have to get lucky with who your dispatcher is or have some connections. Drivers have been with Swift over ten years and are happy, obviously they found something that works for them/ dispatcher or load planner. We all haul the same freight but wear a different colored truck.

The proverbial "four-leafed clover" in trucking doesn't become available until one has at least 3-5 years under their belts. Until then, let's make the best of this rancid soup that is modern day OTR and work for your current company like it's the best thing on earth since PB&J with Doritos with HUGE Kool-Aid smiles on our faces!

Look at my smile! See, it's not so hard!

I dealed with the big co. soup for a few years. Once i had enough time i went with a small company. I always tell people to get 2-4 years under there belt, and go for it!!

Wow! How many times or different threads are you going to defend the Knight family???
Do they pay extra $$$ for that or is a matter of personal pride for you? If I didn't know better, and I don't, my guess is you are a recruiter, office staffer, or even worse a member of the family

Well you have 2135 posts instead of 2134 other then that you wasted time out of your life on a meaningless post. Bet the time could of been better spent in friend seeking in one of your many chat rooms on your favorites list? I will thank you though because that seems to be important to you.
