If I remember right according to Labor Stats us truckers are ranked as the 3rd most dangerous and deadly job.

Yes trucking is dangerous. We deal with all sorts of things out there on the highway at all sorts of hours (Drunk Drivers, Accidents, Weather, Etc.)

The reason you hear of us more on the news is we're held to a higher standard, but the facts are this....... There are more car and car accidents in an hour then there are truck accidents in a day.

If you 'cut me off" then hit your brakes for no reason, yes I may go through you, or if your tailgate me and I have to make an emergency stop, you rear end me.

My suggestion is why not take a ride with a trucker for a day, and see what we put up wth at times.

And I will say this, there are a few bad truckers out there, but not all are. That's stereotyping. Just like if I was to say all colored people are criminals(as an emaple, hope I didn't offend any one)... wich I know is not true or Polish people are stupid (I am 1/4 polish).

    Something to think about.

Example of who's 'causing' the acccidents is : stretch of I-10, Tuc-Phx. Trucks are involved in 70% of accidents, but cause less than 10% per AZ DOT study last year. The problem is heavy traffic moving at 75 mph that stretch (should be 65 mph for that density of traffic) can 'suck in' a big truck by the 4-wheelers darting in & out, hitting brakes, and making dangerous lane changes, etc. I personally drive it VERY conservatively since know the history of that stretch & drive it often. Those interstate drivers who dont, are the ones getting 'sucked in!'
Another note: who do ppl look for when stranded or in an emergency situation...? Guess.....

That's like I-97 here. That's 65 mph, but for the traffic density 55 may be better.

well, let me say this.you do not know what driving a big trucks entails unless you do it.we have alot to deal with, including the 4wheelers jumping in front of us and slamming on their breaks, cutting us off.we deliver everything people have, but do you think to show any respect,no.truckers have also helped authorities with stuff.i get so tired of hearing bad things about trucks,i have been in trucks since i was 10,now i run long haul.i bet i have less in tickets in the past 10 years than you that wants to make nasty comments to truckers.:blah5:

Firstly, I must apologize to readers of this thread for not reading the entire thread before responding but in the case if this individual I could not help myself.

That is, if s/he really believes there are thousands of other, non-driving things a person must do while driving then the quoted post should be self-evident.

    Go figure.

I should have realized the 1st amendment does not apply here.

If you had read the "That is..." line before editing you would have realized the insult you perceived was negated/disqualified by that line.

i have driven truck for 6 years now....i married a woman who came from a trucking family( grandparents and dad were o/o's leased to the same company). She never knew what it was like till i took her out for a day....she had thought trucks were dangerous.....it didnt take her long to figure out who was normally in the wrong( 4 near crashes in 2 hours)...i even had her sit in the drivers seat (in the yard with dynamiters engaged, engine off) while i walked around to do an inspection.... she couldnt believe how little she COULD see compared to what she thought she should be able to see around the truck. Now we're raisin 3 little ones who love to ride with dad...and you can #### sure bet that when they get thier lisences they will know what its like AND how to use thier mirrors

    sorry about my spelling
