Alan, mind if I give you a call? If not, please pm me your number.
Recruiting told me some things but I would like to hear the drivers thoughts. -
I'm currently leased to Schneider National Bulk Carriers my wkly truck payment is $518 and its mileage pay. They pay $1.00 per mile plus fsc loaded and empty. I suggested that we go to percentage pay they stated that they are looking into it. But thats been months ago. One part I don't like is thatr fsc is only $0.24-$0.32 never more than that. I talk to alot of Miller transporters leased operators and most say the minuim they are making is $1.58 per mile. I wander since i'm leasing from schneider how possible would be to switch over to Milller Transporters and keep my Kenworth T2000. I heard alot of good things about Miller.

but schneider has alot of freight and you will run hard. but that means you gotta run smart too.

at schneider we have a maintence fund where we put away money per mile to go into a maintence account i like that. How is miller tranporter set up for maintence ?

I don't know what Schneider's policy would be about taking the truck with you to another job but most companies would make you refinance and pay them off before leaving.
Miller is a good company but one thing that you have to understand is that the tanker business is a lot different than other types of trucking. So far this year I am doing $1.54/mile (all miles) but only averaging 8247 miles per month. We mostly do 500-700 mile overnight trips and then spend a whole day unloading, getting the trailer cleaned and reload the next day. In the 2.5 years that I have been with Miller I have only reloaded the same day a few times It's a good system for someone with an older paid for truck that doesn't want to rack up too many miles but if you hate sitting it wouldn't be for you.
For the guys that buy a truck from Miller there is a mandatory $5000.00 maintenance escrow that they deduct at a rate of 5% of gross until paid. Anyone can set it up so that they do the same thing in the form of a voluntary escrow but I agree that a private bank account would be a better way to go. The most important thing is how much money you are left with after all operating costs and I don't know what that figure is where you are now.

Sorry, I didn't clue in that you are already pulling tanks at Schneider until after I posted my reply.
When working on mileage you can run a lot more dedicated and get much higher miles but when on revenue you try not to take those loads as the small amount of extra revenue they give you to run back empty doesn't even cover your fuel so you end up with more sitting between loads.

Just checking back with the Miller transporters on here. How did ya'll do last year and are ya'll busy this year so far ? I see many newer truck for lease on their site ? Also the tanker company MILS logistics is that Miller company driver division ? I'm still avg/1.40 per mile with schneider how are ya'll doing ?
