i just changed jobs and im having trouble satisfying the trainer the truck im driving now has an 18 speed when i hit an offramp i slow down till the rpm,s are about 900 but if there is not enough room between me and the next vehicle i have to pop it out of gear or it will lug down i keep my foot on the break until i can safely take my foot off the break to push on the fuel peddle and get another gear the instructor says anytime the truck out of gear im out of control but if i slow down enough to hit every gear on the way down im going to slow on the highway and thats not safe either please give me some way to satisfy this guy

Are you in school, or with a trainer for a company? Treat that 18 like a 9 and you shouldn't have any problems on the way down.

Like the others are saying.... Don't use the HILLBILLY overdrive:NEUTRAL.....
LOL.... Dont take the truck outta GEAR....
USE that tranny for whats its worth bro, SPLIT all the GEARS you need to getting off the RAMP...... Thats a good TRANS....... Probly... The trainer would like to see you SPLIT the TOP gears while getting off the RAMP.
GO from H-RANGE to LOW range let off the FUEL till the RMP goes DOWN and then get back into the throttle.
GO back into HIGH range and DROP a GEAR again ......IMPORTANT.....
Once into 16, SPLIT it again by going into 15 or LOWER, depending on your ROAD speed.....
Just start SPLITing the GEARS....
The TRANNY is intended to do this....
