Phasing out Volvos: I dont think so cause their sister company Abilene is buying them with Volvo engines and I have seen USX Volvos with a number higher than 9. If you really wanna know what year your truck is; look at the first number. An 8 means your truck is a 2008. As for lease ops, I heard it is a mix of 386/387 Peterbilts.

    Lin,

Can you clarify as to why the 10spd's arent Cali legal. In all honesty, I would not think their trailers are as I have yet to see one with side skirts, which are mandatory effective around 2012.

I honestly think it has to do with more than that. The Volvos and Internationals, 75% of Freightliners plus the Petes all have full fairings and it would reek heck on dispatch if it was only the Cascadias w/o fairings. If it has to do with the fairngs, then most of trucks would not be allowed to run into California. Just look at it in black and white terms: California sees a lot of trucks everyday and I guarantee you 50% or more are without fairings. I can think of three companies right off hand that do not have fairings that run into California. JCT, Motor West, and Gordon runs trucks that do not have fairings.

California is going put a new law into effect that requires Dry/Reefer trailers to have side skirts that run into Cali.

When you start to come down a mountain, pop it into neutral.

It will go as fast as you want.

I think it's $500. Think I read you could do 100 up front and the rest comes out of your checks. Not sure about that though.
