I beg to differ. For me, chains are to get to where you want to go. Just because you have to put on chains dont mean you are "getting into a situation". Having said that I dislike dealing with them just as much as everyone else.

That's why I like oversize. Chain law in effect we have to park.

Not always, up here it is a given to chain up in certain areas to get to where you need to go. No chaining = no work plus I kinda enjoy putting them on. It gets me out of the truck and moving around. -

Ahhh...the good ole days! -
I was driving on 318 one night and I saw a single headlight coming at me that was in the center of the highway. I figured maybe a motorcycle doing a high speed run. I watched as he came closer and closer and he was flying. In a matter of seconds he covered alot of ground and all I could do is slow down and lay on the air horn. Then boom as the B1 bomber flew over me no more than 50 feet. I'll tell you that scared the you know what out of me and later I talked to some friends I know and they told me they do low level high speed runs there for testing out of the Tonopah range. -
I all ways toss chains because I rather run then sit.

I remeber the first time I chained #### -10 F man that was some rookie #### . I run in Colorado and Oregon . Im like Blacky I run "ALLOVERTHEDAMNEDPLACE" . I can do em no problem now. I remeber driving threw snow and I was trying to get home ( my last son was being born ) and I was pushing heavy in the snow. about ft of the white flurry ####. pulled over with 2 other drivers they helped me learn. we chained up and if one got stuck the other one or two pushed ( Same company ) . We ran like that back to the yard and then I crawled out and left the truck in he yard and hot footed to henderson and man I saw so many drivers in the ditch from Des Moines. Every should learn !
