As many of you know, my rig is at WI KW (Milwaukee) more than in my own drive but tonight I got a call with status on my repairs....
Turns out that last night around 2am, a 1984 Pete 379 (being serviced) opted to have a serious electrical dash fire. Burned up the rig to a cinder. Left a serious amount of soot and slime all over the entire service shop until the sprinklers ended up dousing the fire. Every truck in each bay had to be deloused from the soot and stink....
Fortunately my rig was sitting in the parking lot waiting for a bay to free up.
..right now, I have left the rig there but told them NOT to bring it into the shop until all of that stink/funk and so on has been removed. The smell of burning dash and seats is really hard to get out of an interior.
No one was hurt as no one was there. Last guy left at 1am and all was quiet then.
No damage to the shop but for soot and crap at least....and that dam STINK now...

###### man...for once it's a good thing to be last and left out in the cold huh?? Wow glad your ride didnt get trashed
-
WOW close call that could of been your truck in there
-
Thanks guys. Oddly the parts girl was the 1st one to call me. She asked me why my rig didnt start last night (11f outside). I was like "huh?"
She thought that since she saw it outside still, she presumed it didn't start, and the service dept couldn't work on it.
First off, my truck WILL start. Second off, the service dept got slammed with differential issues (power dividers) due to our 1st cold snap and asked if I would be patient and wait. I was fine with that...I'm not running the rig at the moment so my priority is not high.
The dude that lost the 84 Pete was devastated. I don't know him, but know his insurance pays for the shop damage. I suspect his ins company could cancel him after this too. Who knows. I hope he didn't have a loan on it, but I do know people that were able to get a 'note' on a old rig like this...
I feel really bad for KW actually. I am going to go there Wednesday and see if I can do anything. As much work as I have done there, they are sort of like family now.... -
That was great luck. I had a total loss house fire almost 4 years ago now. A few things I did salvage afterwards still have a funky smell to them.
Oh yeah, blame the Pete. Sure, Sure...... -
From what I read a BAD family!!
-
..in all seriousness, even if it was a Volvo, it would still be a sad thing...
Someone lost their rig.... -
Milwaukee or Madison?

So true, and we all know that insurance will not cover nearly what they should.
Paddletrucker Thanks this.
