It may sound unbelievable but it is true; I was dreaming of this for 40 years. Always told my patients, one day I will learn to drive a truck. I had bought many books about the states of America,,,,spent YEARS looking at the pictures....how beautiful this country is. Always admired this profession. Knew what I am getting into; my best friends are truckers.

I started as a motorcycle mechanic, earning every tech certification I could get my hands on. When that industry took a hit in 98', along with my father getting injured, someone had to keep his truck running, so guess I was set up from the start......:biggrin_25521:

started out as an auto mechanic for 5 years,

    Manufacturing Gauge Calibration 2 years

Joined the Navy (6 year contract) as a Sub Nuke Machinist Mate for 3 years

changed rates to surface Electronics Technician (comms, radar, crypto) for 3 years

Now i'm going to school to get my CDL and drive OTR.

I got tired of getting Sea Sick all the darn time. I'll stick to solid earth from now on.

I could hijack this thread or start a new one....hijack it is:

Where did you get the Marmon?
How long have you had it?
What kind of engine and tranny does it have?
    How many miles on it?
Where do you get parts for it?
I like old stuff that is still running.

    I currently enjoy Petermobiling.

I retired out of a 30 year job as HR Director at a medium size hospital. I didn't realize how much stress I had to deal with on a daily basis until I retired.
I had always wanted to drive a big rig, so I went to Truck Driving School and got my CDL with all endorsements except for doubles/triples. Driving is fun for me, and so I feel no stress at all, just get tired eyes after driving 500 miles.

I am a tanker yanker, and haul milk part-time. I have 2 part-time driving jobs. My 2nd job is hauling Ag stuff, grain, fertilizer - dry and liquid. Would like to try hauling fuel, and maybe some flat bed oversize stuff...maybe some dump truck for a season...

Would like to fly a crop duster plane, but the pilot license thing could be expensive....I should just fly in the 2nd seat on one.

Would like to fly on the 2nd seat on a jet fighter... and land on an aircraft carrier...

I drove a dragster down in Daytona Beach across from the speedway at an amusement park....about 3.3 seconds for 0 to 60 mph...I should do the funny car one,... it is about a 1.5 second ride :biggrin_25523: My cardiologist did not approve of the 3.3 second ride, but it was pretty tame...

I would like to get some experience running a backhoe, mabye digging some graves...who would complain if the bottom of the hole was not level or smooth?
