Im averaging $1.75 on all miles. I get to keep about $.50/mi. Unexpected repairs are cutting into my bottom line pretty hard this year.

I am a "local skateboarder" I make over 3 bucks a mile for all miles driven. I only do about 1200 miles a week. I dont tarp many loads (about 1 a month) but I still have to fully chain them. Which usually takes about 4 to 6 3/8 chains. It can be a pain somtimes. I run anywhere form 4 to 9 loads a day. I am home every night. Gross as much as most otr trucks but spend less than half what they do on fuel. I like what I do. Its a good life! -
Funny how some believe there is no more LTL freight out here that pays good...
-
-
Lots of good paying LTL freight , some postings were about BAD experience for those knowledgeable in handling it.
-
If LTL works for you good......Like I said before...There are few shippers that will take up 40' of a deck with a load and call it an "LTL".....
-
I have hauled loads for freight brokers that I would mail them a check for 8 % of the rate after I got paid direct from shipper. These folks are more "load finders' than brokers.
My point is, you have to compare apples to apples , and oranges to oranges. It ain't as cheap to truck as some folks think. Most O/O's simply do not realize their true cost to operate.josh.c Thanks this. -
Brokers take only 10%?????
Many brokers especially for DOD loads take up to 50% of the gross....Now many times your 50% amounts to a substantial amount relatively speaking....
I hauled a three axle combat rated flatbed on my deck from Fort Carson to Los Alamitos Joint Service Base for $1500.....Not bad for 800 or so miles at $1.87/m....The broker received $1500 too....I know this because transportation at FT. Carson had the gross in "black and white" printed on page 1 of the B/L.....
I wasn't going to complain....$1500 for a relatively light and easy to load freight was fine for me....
I know some here would say that I should have received $2700 (90% TTT and 10% to the broker...) for that load but seriously...this is the real world.....Not La-La Land......Lilbit Thanks this. -
Heck there were produce brokers who would PAY on delivery for an additional 15 - 20% off the rate that they were paying the truck.
